There was this weird sound.

The sound of a pencil against paper.

But something sounded odd.

It wasn't paper it wrote on.

It was metal.

Some time earlier

"And... finished!" (Y/N) looked at her sketch satisfied while Mei was painting on her painting. The alive girl checked her phone and saw the time. "Awww, already?"

"What is it?" Mei looked up from the paint and faced her friend.

"I have to go, duty calls." she just nodded in reply while Tomo ran out of the Atelier and down the stairs.

"Let's check my notes... There's been rumors about a weird shadow in the schools garden, better go check it." She nodded to herself and went to the gardens.

The gardens were in full bloom and very pretty, with red roses and tulips in all colors, and the green trees, and there in the corner vegetables. Tomo closed her eyes and enjoyed the sweet smell and decided to sit under a tree. Since she did not know where the shadow was seen, she couldn't go to a specific place, so she decided to wait it out instead. She sat down comfortably and rested.

It took some time, but she then heard a weird sound. It didn't sound like a human, there were no footsteps. Instead, there was a swoosh in the wind that sounded odd. (Y/N) sat up and looked around, and then she saw it.

It was like a part of the wind was black, a black light to be exact. She didn't know how but the black wind seemed to shine even if it was of a dark color. She stood up and slowly approached it, ready to defend herself anytime if needed. But it walked away. It headed to a tree and then she noticed it.

There was someone behind the tree it headed to.

And it saw the wind heading to it.

The wind had reached its destination, and circulated around the tree. Then finally, the figure behind the tree stepped out, not knowing that another was in the garden since (Y/N) had taken the opportunity to hide behind a bush, still able to see the scene but them not seeing her.

It was someone (Y/N) had seen lots of time. Someone she already suspected had a relation with the other side.

Her name was Nanamine Sakura. Third year. Slender legs, green eyes with yellow flecks, green hair and calm aura. And now, her suspicions were confirmed. Nanamine Sakura had contact with the other side.

Left to see was if the contact was dangerous.

Nanamine walked up to the shadow wind and talked to it, but from the distance she couldn't hear their conversation. The shadow floated around happily before it became smoke.

And out of it appeared something she didn't like to see.

It looked like Hanako, but Tomo knew better.

It was Yugi Tsukasa.

Twin brother to Yugi Amane.

Amane is also known as Hanako-San, School Mystery Number 7.

Tsukasa floated around Nanamine happily, seeming to tease her. But she merely ignored him and continued talking.

"...next ghost is at the rooftop." Nanamine finished. (Y/N)'s eyes widened. Next ghost is at the rooftop. She stood up and walked away quietly, sneaking inside and ran up the stairs, up to the rooftop. Whatever was on the rooftop was in danger, Tsukasa and Nanamine was not to mess with. She picked something up from her pocket when she had come through the door and closed it.

The item was a feather pen, and she readied herself and put the pen right in her hand, and wrote on the door. It looked like some old seal, and for those who knew their stuff, it was a seal blocking everyone who wanted to get through the door. Tomo sighed out and seemed to relax a little, but she was still ready for anything. Who knew, if they were serious about this they might even climb up here.

(Y/N) turned around and looked around, searching for a ghost. Then she looked two people in their eyes, and she was shocked.

A ghost. But also a human.

Hanako and Nene stood behind her, both eyes confused and widened.

"Tomo-Chan... what's with that pencil... and the painting on the door?"

"Don't worry, it'll go away when I want it to."

"Why... why did you put a seal of no entering on the door?"

"To protect whoever was on the rooftop."

"Protect? From who?" Nene was clearly confused about this, a weird drawing and some protecting?

"From Yugi Tsukasa and Nanamine Sakura." Hanako's eyes widened when he heard the name Tsukasa.

"Wh-what? Tsukasa?"

"I overheard Yugi and Nanamine talk about a ghost on the rooftop. If it's those two, I had to make sure they stayed safe." (Y/N) looked serious. "Hopefully, they won't be able to come in here, but I have to stay in case they know how to break a seal from the outside. I put a seal for that too, but if I'm too distracted it'll easily break."

The wind blew and Hanako looked at the second year.

"What should I do?"

"Make sure to not be caught by them and that Nene won't be either. That's all I need. If or when they come, I'll take care of it. I'll protect. Their relationship is dangerous, and it is my job to make sure they won't be a problem between the lines."

"Your job?" Nene was a big question mark.

"That's the job for Guardians."

"Guardians? I don't understand at all!"

"What about we take this after your life isn't threatened anymore?" (Y/N) said sarcastic. But she then thought of different things when a little circle was glowing on the door, smaller than the other seal. She fell to her knees and groaned.

"Are you okay?!" Nene was about to run to her.

"Stay away! They're just trying to get in by removing the sign of solid work. Step back to Hanako, you need to stay out of this, this is nothing a human can handle!"

"Then what about you?!"

"I can bear it!" she protested. Nene wanted to say something but also wanted to trust her. She looked down in thought and decided to do what every friend would do.

"I don't want you to do this... but I gotta trust you, don't I?" Tomo flashed her a small smile before she held her mouth, trying to not scream in pain. The small circle glowed even brighter, and then.

It broke, and shards of light was flying from where it was. The door flew ope and inside flew a ghost.

"Amane, Amane!" The said ghost's face was so shocked, and terrified. And Nene stared at the girl after the ghost.

"I'm sorry..." (Y/N) stood up, relieved the pain was gone, but felt bad that they even got inside. "I'm afraid your bond might do a lot more trouble than it's worth. Therefore, my next job is to break that bond." She looked dead-serious at the two new guests. Tsukasa was finally looking at her.

"Huh? A Guardian of the Line between the Sides? What will you do? Break our friendship?" he smiled creepily. "Heh. I've never killed a Guardian. This might be more fun than I thought."

So, first of all: Sorry for not updating in a while! Second: I'm soon out of ideas... wanna share yours?
