~2 weeks later~

Sam left the night after our little conversation on the boat. It was nice, I had mostly forgotten everything that happened. The one thing I couldn't forget though were his brown eyes and the concern that they held when he had released my arm.

I was so out of it at the time that I hadn't even noticed he was concerned. It wasn't till later when I was breathing normal and back in my sane mind that I registered what happened. Even then since I didn't notice it in the moment, I scratched it up to my imagination playing tricks on me and that was the end of that.

It's Saturday, which means I don't need to go to Sarah's house till 4:30 tonight so I can make them dinner. She was supposed to be taking AJ and Cass out for the day. I was going to head to the dock and prep the day. I also needed to head to the town over to get my orders that have come in.

When I arrived to the dock, I was surprised to see someone else's vehicle there. I got to work but I was still on edge. I didn't know who it belonged too or what could come from it.

"YN!" I turn and see Sam on the boat with someone else. Although I had never met him, I knew who he was. The Bucky Barnes, best friend of Steve Rogers. I shook my head as my eyebrows furrowed.

"Wilson! Get off the damn boat!" I shouted at them as I quickly made my way over there.

"This is just as much my boat as yours!"

"No touchy till I'm done fixing it! Now out! I can't babysit you two to make sure you don't break anything while I'm in town."

"You're going in town?" Barnes asked.

"Yes, my supplies for the boat came in. I need to head over and get it."

"We can help you get the stuff if you want." Sam offered.

"I think I can manage on my own Wilson, haven't had a man in my life for the last 10 years. Don't need one now." Barnes started to laugh but quickly covered with a cough. "Don't test me Barnes. I'm not a morning person."

The two stepped off of the boat and walked over to me.

"So, I'm no longer Mr. Wilson? Just Wilson? Is that progress I hear YN?"

"Wait you're YN?" Barnes asked me.

"Yes Sir, that's me." His eyebrows shot up in surprise as he looked at me.

"Pleasure to meet you Ma'am." He extended his vibranium hand and I quickly shook it. "Sam she's much more beautiful than you described." I turned my head to Sam and gave him a questioning look as he glanced away rubbing the back of his neck.

"Look I gotta get into town. I don't care if y'all want to stay here and work but you stay off that boat, you hear me?"

"Yes ma'am." Barnes said quickly with a faint smile. He knew, and I knew he knew. I gave him a quick wink. I thought about it for a moment. Sure, I can fit all three of us in my truck, it would be tight and a bit awkward but I could use the help. Some of the items are heavy.

"You know what, if you want to come with and you're not doing anything that you two can hop in the truck with me and head into the town over." The two looked at each other, not saying a word before following me to my truck and hopping in. I was thankful that Bucky sat in between Sam and I.

No one spoke on our drive there. When we got there, we all climbed out and I ran inside to talk to the owners. As I came out, I heard Sam and Bucky arguing.

"Boys!" They stopped and looked at me.

"What?" They asked at the same time. It took everything in me not to break into a laugh right there. Instead, I had a subtle smile.

"Let's get to work." With that being said we load up the truck with all the pieces and boxes.

I was thankful for inviting them with me. It would have taken me all day to lift everything into the truck. Even then when I got back, I would have hurt too much to unpack. Sore for days and then when I unloaded the truck, I would have been sore all over again. They saved me time and pain.

We got back into the truck and I pulled off my jacket throwing it over my shoulder. They looked at me and I realize that the scar on my arm was now visible. I didn't say anything but looked ahead.

"Hey, what's this?" Bucky asked as he say the tip of one of my pictures hanging out. He pulled down the visor and my two photos were on full display. He took them before I even had time to react. I knew better than to say anything.

"Wait, is that me?" I hear Sam speak now taking part of the conversation. "How'd you get this photo?!" Sam asked angrily. "Is that Riley?" He snatched the photos out of Bucky's hand and looked at them intently before flipping them over. The photo of Riley and Sam had writing on it and I knew he was reading it.

I miss you Sis; I promise this is my last tour. Then we can both retire from the military like mom and dad always wanted. I'm thinking Louisiana. Sam talks about it all the time.

Love you lots!

Riley

"I, I don't understand." Sam whispered. I blinked quickly trying to get rid of the tears. I wiped them away.

"Sam's old partner, was your brother?" Bucky asked putting everything together since he wasn't emotionally attached to it, he was level headed. I nodded my head.

"You were in the military? Riley's your brother? I have so many questions." Just like that I went from emotional to being behind a stone wall. Sure, my secrets were spilling left and right but that didn't mean much if I couldn't control how my life went.

If I tell Sam everything, I give up my control on life. I couldn't risk that. So, the wall went right back up. I looked and felt numb, no more emotions shown to the two men sitting in my truck.

"I told you Wilson, stop trying to figure me out. How does the saying go? Don't mess with fire unless you want to be burned?" Sam held the photos tightly in his hand as he starred at them intently not saying anything else. I closed my eyes before feeling a metal hand on my leg. I look and see Bucky giving me a saddened smile. I'm fine I muttered before backing the truck out and heading back to Delacroix.
