I could barely stay awake throughout class which was not good considering that I fell asleep during the one class which was teaching me about things I didn't actually understand. I even almost fell asleep during lunch, though Tsukishima managed to just barely keep me awake.
Tsukishima seemed pretty concerned for me throughout the rest of the day, and his concern only seemed to grow each time I accidentally let my head drop onto my desk.
Eventually, it was time for me to go to volleyball practice, and I could barely focus on anything during practice. I was zoned out for most of the practice which seemed to concern most of my teammates.
My team kept on trying to hype me up somehow, and most of the "hyping up" was done by Tanaka and Nishinoya who weren't as good at it as they thought. Instead of "hyping me up" all they did was be really loud to try and encourage me and just made me even more tired. It was nice that they were trying, but it really wasn't working.
Eventually, roughly halfway through practice, we were doing a scrimmage with our team. I was on a team with Tsukishima, Hinata, Tanaka, Nishinoya, and Kinoshita. On the other team was Asahi, Yamaguchi, Tobio, Daichi, Narita, and Ennoshita. Sugawara decided to sit out for this match and help Kiyoko keep the score.
We were playing for a little while, and the ball was on the other side of the court. At the worst point in time, I ended up slightly zoning out, and by the time where I could figure out where the volleyball was, it was right in my face.
I turned towards the volleyball and it hit me directly in the face. The ball came from a spike from Asahi, who seemingly panicked as soon as I was hit. I had no time to react, and ended up hitting the floor. My nose began to bleed, and I blacked out.
When I finally woke up, I was lying in a bed in the nurse's office. Tsukishima was sitting next to me. He noticed as soon as I woke up, and was there was concern and worry painted on his face.
"You okay, Y/N?" He asked, turning his body to face me.
I paused for a moment before speaking. "Uh, yeah, I think so."
"Geez, the whole team was super worried about you, ya know. Asahi thought that he had killed you, and you should have seen how angry Tobio got. It was honestly kind of funny." Tsukishima responded.
"Eh? I didn't mean to make everyone worry about me." I commented.
"Well I would assume that you didn't mean to get hit in the face with a volleyball either." Tsukishima made a quick remark, causing me to let out a small chuckle.
"Yeah, sorry. How long was I out?" I asked.
"Well you were out for long enough that I got to miss most of practice. I think it should be ending just about now." Tsukishima said, standing up. "You okay to walk? Or do you need me to carry you?"
I felt a small blush form on my cheeks after he offered to carry me. Part of me wanted to lie and get Tsukishima to carry me, but I knew that would be way too embarrassing for both of us.
"I-I'm fine, I can walk on my own." I stood up next to him, wobbling a bit at first. Tsukishima was quick to wrap an arm around my waist to keep me from falling. He pulled me a little too close to his chest, so I put my arms up to keep my face from colliding with his chest. Instead of my face being shoved into his chest, my hands were on his chest.
I quickly pushed him away, and I noticed a very obvious blush on his face, and I felt a very obvious blush on my own face, too.
I noticed Tsukishima hold his hand out to me, and I happily took it, though Tsukishima seemed too embarrassed to look me in the eyes.
While the two of us were walking to the gym to gather our things and let the rest of the team know that I was okay, I heard Tsukishima speak very softly. "I was worried about you, you know..."
I blushed even more, which I didn't think was possible, and I moved myself closer to Tsukishima, going from holding his hand to practically clinging to his arm. Once we got to the gym, I let go of Tsukishima's arm to try and not attract too much attention to the two of us.
As soon as we walked in, I noticed that most people had begun to clean up the gym. Once Asahi noticed me walk in, he immediately began to apologize. "Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry for hitting you earlier, Y/N!" He seemed really concerned for me and kept on checking to make sure I was okay.
"I-I'm fine, Asahi-senpai. Please, don't worry about me, it's partially my fault too for not paying attention earlier." I stuttered out.
"You should make sure to pay more attention next time, Y/N. You don't have any bruises, do you?" Tobio gently grabbed my face with his hand, squishing my cheeks slightly while his eyes scanned my face to make sure that I wasn't injured anywhere.
"I'm fine, Tobio. How many times am I gonna have to tell you?" I tried to speak as clearly as I could, though it was at least somewhat hard due to my face being squished.
Tobio let go of my face, and I spoke with some of the other team members too. Sugawara was one of the people there who was most concerned for me. Sugawara even gave me a lecture about how I should get more sleep after I told him that I was just tired.
I eventually was one of the last few people in the gym and I helped to clean up. I left the gym to go and gather my things from the clubroom. Before I entered, I overheard Tsukishima and Yamaguchi talking to each other. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but the thing that I overheard Tsukishima say was enough to make me stand outside the door and listen to the rest of their conversation.
