We drove around for hours, letting the wind run through the car while listening to the radio. Josh looked over at me while smiling, and then tuned back to the road.
"I wrote you a song." he said, while turning on the blinker and returned his hand to the wheel while his other hand caressed mine.
"You what?" I said, I could barely hear him between the wind and the radio.
He turned down the radio, and returned his hand to mine, "I- well Danny, Jake and I, wrote you a song."
"A song?" I said, putting my hair that had blocked my view behind my ear.
"Yes, love. A song" he chuckled, while nodding and pointing to the glove compartment. I opened it and revealed a golden cassette tape with orange and yellow flowers on it, titled 'flower power' in Josh's handwriting. "A song? For me?" I asked, as I opened the tape and put it into the player.
We listened to it on repeat for hours, because I just couldn't get over how good it was. The sun had started to come up when Josh had finally turned it down for it to subtly be in the background. "You like it?" he asked, pulling over to a gas station. I nodded and smiled, "I love it," I reached over and kissed his cheek.
He blushed and looked down, "I need to use the bathroom, I'll be right back." I nodded , and listened to flower power finish out again, taking it out and smiling down at it. I looked up seeing Josh come back towards the car, and I quickly put the cassette into my jacket pocket.
"So where are we going, exactly?" he chuckled, climbing into his seat.
"Anywhere, this was your idea, silly" I giggled and bit my lip.
We got back onto the road, until we stumbled across a road that had nothing but forests beside it, and Josh pulled over.
"Let's go on a hike," he said, getting out and walking over to open my door.
I smiled, and got out letting the dewy air hit my face as I took a deep breath. We began walking the trail, until we came across a beautiful waterfall.
"Last one in buys breakfast," Josh winked, taking off his shirt, pants and shoes; and jumped into the water.
"Joshua it's 55 d-" I laughed and shook my head, taking off my clothes and jumping in after him. The water was freezing, and I flinched as my body tried to adjust.
"I guess you're buying," Josh laughed, running his hand back through his hair. I looked at him in complete awe, forgetting he said anything, feeling my smile as it grew bigger and bigger.
"You hear me, darling?" he laughed while wrapping his arms around my waist and twisting me around.
I laughed, wrapping my arms around his neck, "yeah, I did" I lied.
We shivered, getting out of the water.. and quickly put our clothes back on. "I think I was more prepared for this than you think," Josh chuckled, walking back towards the car.
"Hey, wait!" I giggled, grabbing my jacket in a hurry and following after him.
We got back to his car and he opened the trunk, revealing a tent. "We're staying here tonight?" I asked, as he took it out of the back.
"Why not?" he winked, walking back down the trail. It was sort of romantic, staying on this chilly fall night in the middle of the woods. It wasn't that far out from Frankenmuth, so it wasn't a place we weren't familiar with.
