"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds." -Nicholas Sparks-
"Josh! Please, don't leave!" I cry out while following Josh out of the gym.
"Forget it, Lex! You lied to me!" he hollered back while throwing his hand up as he crossed the street.
"Joshua!" I said as I went to walk across the street before a car went by, once it passed me Josh had already disappeared. I sat on the curb, closing my eyes as the tears fell; the cool spring breeze ran across my arm while the bass of the music from inside the school continued.
-
*12 hours earlier*
"Up! Get up!" I heard Emily shout while walking into my room. I groaned and threw the blankets over my head as she opened my blinds, "c'mon! You only get senior prom once!" Emily stated, shaking me in bed.
"Emily, get out before I decapitate you! It's not even 9 yet!" I said, putting my blankets back down and looking at the clock.
"Did you forget to spring your clock forward? Girl, it's almost 10!" she replied, showing me her phone.
"What? I-" I got up quickly and confirmed what she said by looking at my own phone, and saw three missed calls from Josh. "I was supposed to meet Josh at his house for breakfast!" I said, throwing on my slippers.
"Yeah I was there, it was great-" Emily began as I shot daggers at her from across the room. "Hey, I'm just sayin!" she laughed while throwing her hands up.
I sighed and looked in the mirror, "I look like a krusty krabby patty!" I threw myself back onto my bed as Emily looked down at me, "Let's change that, shall we?"
"Let me call and apologize to Josh first!" I said while unlocking my phone.
"Oh, he didn't seem that upset! Besides, you'll make it up to him tonight!" she winked while nudging my arm.
"Emily!" I looked at her with wide eyes as we both broke into a loud laughter.
"Am I interrupting something?" Ashleigh said from my doorway.
"Actually no, just in time!" Emily smiled and walked over to my vanity chair while patting it. That was one thing, Emily was really good with hair so she was doing half the school's hair today.
Ashleigh sat down and looked at me through the mirror, "rough night last night?"
"What?" I said adjusting on my bed while looking back at her.
"I heard you come in at like 1 am.." Ashleigh laughed while taking a sip of her drink.
"Oh that- it wasn't rough-" I stopped myself as I watched Ashleigh and Emily look at each other in the mirror and start laughing.
"Not like that you sickos!" I shook my head and walked towards the door, "I'm going to shower! Don't talk about me while I'm gone!" I laughed while heading to the bathroom.
-
"The zipper just zipped last night!" I heard Ashleigh say as I turned the corner into my room to get dressed. Emily was helping her get into her satin red dress, that she had bought 6 months before prom.
"You had it on last night?" I asked, opening up my closet and reaching for my dress.
"Well yeah, that was the first time in a few weeks-" she said while shimmying into the dress more.
I shook my head and laughed as I slipped my dress on, Emily walked over to zip mine while Ashleigh adjusted in the mirror. "Shouldn't they be here by now?" I asked, looking at my clock I fixed earlier when I got out of the shower. Prom started at 7, and it was already 645.
