The ride back is filled with some sort of tension in the air. This time Marcus sits back with me and Hazel goes up front with Jesse. Not a good sign. Nobody says much, so the radio fills the silence.

"Well..." Marcus starts.

I can tell he's only talking to prevent the awkward silence. Nobody helps him. Jesse hasn't said a word since I ran off, but I can tell he's bothered. Hazel sits looking out of the window in silence and I put on my airpods to drown them all out.

We drive like that the whole way back. When we get to the hotel, Marcus and Hazel climb out the back. Jesse opens the door, then turns to me.

"You coming or are you going to stay in there the whole night?"

"I'm coming now." I say.

"Do you want to talk to me about whatever's going on?" he asks.

I shrug.

"I promise I'll help and try and not get annoyed..."

I smile tiredly at him.

"Sure."

"Ok."

We climb out and head towards the gardens where the firepit is.

"Wassup?" Jesse asks me.

I say nothing.

"Wow really? No way!" he says.

I glare at him.

"I'm trying to think of how to start." I say.

"Get on with it then. I have girls waiting for me." he winks.

"How come your allowed to do whatever you want with whoever you want but I'm not?"

"Because, Hailey, I'm the oldest."

"Not fair."

"If you'd come first, you would have that power. But you don't." he grins at me.

"Who even are these girls?"

"A model here, a singer there. You know how it is."

"No I actually don't." I say.

"Random girls I see. Doesn't hurt to have a bit of fun."

I look him up and down but don't say anything.

"Don't give me that look." he says.

"I'm not giving you any look."

"Yes you are. Your giving me that look you give people when your secretly mad but don't want to say it. It's scary."

"Well I don't think you should be messing around like that with girls."

"Hailey listen to yourself. Loosen up! Enjoy your youth!"

"You sound like an 80 year old man." I say.

He rolls his eyes.

"Always so problematic."

"I'm just saying." I shrug.

"We're here to talk about you anyways, not about me."

I really don't want to tell him to be honest.

"I just want to end the Mason joke date thing." I lie.

"Is that it?" he sounds so disappointed.

"Yeah..." I say.

"Damn, I thought there was some severe shit going on."

"Yeah well-" I say uncomfortably.

If only he knew.
