We went straight back to the control room to watch the fourth game. Il-ho and I walk out of the elevator right as the players got to the game hall. He walked us over to the platform that has all the players faces on it. We stood there as we watched the players learn the rules for this game.
There had to be two people per team, and since one player was killed by us, they're down a number. Which means one player won't have a partner, just like last time.
After everyone has chosen their partners, they were told to go throw another large door, this time blue. While they were all walking to it, 212 begged for some of the others to give up their partner for her. She went to some teams begging for them to be with her, but they resisted.
All the players who had a partner are now in the game room, while 212 is still in the game hall. She's screaming for us to bring partner. I watch some guards grab her and drag her away, I know they won't kill her, but I can't help but smile at her misfortune.
The game has started now, and each team is trying their best to win. But there can only be only winner per team. It would be pointless for us to do this if we let them all live.
The screens flipped from team to team, I was curious about this game. I'm happy I'm not feeling what Gi-hun is over it, but I still feel bad for him. He chose the old man as his partner like I did.
My heart fell as we heard the first gun shot. And lucky for me, the screens above showed the view from one of the triangle guard's cameras. It was a man, and he happened to be on the left of Sang-woo and Ali.
My eyes burned at the sight before me. Did this happen when I was playing too? Sang-woo had Ali pined on the wall, and he was yelling at him. I blinked a few tears out as he continued to yell.
Watching Ali being manhandled like that made my heart hurt, and eyes water. But before I could say anything to Il-ho, the triangle guard assigned to them pulled out his gun and put it to Sang-woo's head. Sang-woo backed off and stood there for a bit, taking in the awkward aroma.
I bit my lip as I watched him get on his knees and grab Ali's hands. He begged for Ali to forgive him. He put on a whole speech about his mother being his only family left, and how he can't leave her. Ali nodded to his pleads and told him he had a family too, he had a son and wife. Sang-woo sprung up at his words. I didn't like the look in his eyes. He had a terrible plan.
Sang-woo had a bright idea and it didn't ease my feeling. He told Ali his plan, it was unfair to him. Unfair to Ali, and his family. It took some convincing, but Ali was on board now. My heart ached for him now, he wouldn't have a chance with him. Ali watched Sang-woo take all the marbles and store them in his bag, then gave it to him. I gritted my teeth together at the thought of this.
As if on cue, the screen I had my eyes glued to changed to Say-beiok and that other girl. I can't remember if we ever shared names. They were just sitting on some stairs, why though? Didn't they have a game to play? Why aren't they playing?
My thoughts were interrupted by Say-beiok's voice, she was explaining some of her past to her. So that's why–they wanted to kill time before it eventually killed one of them. I already knew her past, but I was intrigued to learn about her new friend, 240. Once Say-beiok stopped, her friend gave empathy to her, and then shared some about her. When she was little, her father used to beat her mom–and other things. She told her that one day, when she came home from school she saw her mom on the ground. And her dad was standing over her. She explained that the next thing she knew was that he was now on the floor, and she was over him. She's been on the run ever since. Which means she has nowhere to go after this.
