It's almost 5 pm and it is poring outside.. I lay in my bed with black sabbath playing in the background. I can't help but listen to the lyrics to ' Is God dead?' and think is this song actually accurate?

My head is pounding and I'm not even sure why. Maybe it's because my mom shouting at my stepfather because he accuses her of sleeping around with other men.

I mean can you blame him, she dresses up like a slut and has a full time job as a stripper. If I were him I would divorce her.. I love my step-dad. He isn't like those who you read in the books he is actually nice and sweet. Sometimes I wish my real mother cared about me in that way.

Every time I hear her voice I turn up the volume to the music up a bit just so I can't hear the pain of my step-dad, William's voice. And my mother's raging way of throwing things untill they shatter. I should've stayed with my father years ago.. I could've been happier.

The music is now played on max and I can feel the vibration of the drums.. I eventually hear my name being called out in a distance but I close my eyes and feel the music instead. A few moments pass and suddenly my door swings open, revealing my mother's red, angry face. " Ever heard of knocking?" I said getting up to pause the music. " Do you mind turning the volume down, I can't even listen to myself think?!" she answered raising her voice. " Is that why you scream at William for accusing you of cheating instead of talking about it? "

" Look I don't have time for this, can you grab me some cigarettes from the drug store. I really need a smoke right now. There is 10 dollars on the counter. Make sure you buy something for yourself too. You look like you haven't eaten in a long time. " She said closing my door. What's going on? Why is she talking to me like this. She isn't screaming at me? Not like she does, she is a good mom. But she can be unforgivable sometimes.

" Sure" I whispered, standing up grabbing a hoodie and sneakers as well as my headphones and made my way to the kitchen. " Hey William, you alright?" I asked comforting "hey Jules, I think so.. Heading to the store?" " yeah mom left 10 dollars for cigarettes" I said grabbing the money. " here I know it's not much, but a extra 20 won't hurt.." I look at him, he looks broken. My heart sank. I face him and slowly started walking towards him opening my arms giving him a long comforting hug. " Thank you so so much, you deserve better William" I whispered in his ear.. " don't mention it" he answer back and started walking to the living room where my mother was watching television.

I put the 30 dollars in my pocket and made my way to the store. As I entered I bumped into this medium sized man with long brown hair meeting his shoulders. "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry" I said panicking. "no it's totally okay don't worry about it" as he looked up he frowned as if I had said something wrong. "Im sorry, you look so familiar.. Do I know you? " He said tucking his hair behind his ears. " Dave is that you" I said so unsure hoping it was him otherwise it would've been so embarrassing. " Julia rose?" he asked with wide eyes. " people call me Jules now, but yeah it's me-" he pulls me into a warm tight hug. " Dave I can't breath." "I am sorry.. I guess I just got excited. How long has it been? " " 2 long years.. " this is awkward not going to lie. "look I should really start going or else my mother would be worried sick." I said lying. " Oh okay, I'm sorry" I just returned a smile and started walking to the counter. " hey, uhm.. Maybe we can hang out sometime.. You know like old times?" he asked interrupting. " yeah sure. How about next week Thursday?" I said. " yeah sounds perfect.. See you then jules."

That was weird. I walked up to the counter. " how may I help you. " a young guy at the counter asked. He looked a little bit older than 23. " Can I please get two packets of
Winston and a packet of Lay's chips please. "

When I was done I made my way home, gave my mother her things and made my way to my bed to sleep further.
