On our way to school Amy started rambling on about boys, especially one named Jeremy Marksmen. He was the new kid last year, personal he gives me the creeps he seems like the type that get into all kinds of trouble but Amy loves the bad boy type. Jeremy moved in with his rich family and bought the house that was up on the hill near the cemetery, well I wouldn't say house more like mansion. It's a beautiful old French provincial style home, it stands out and rumor has it that the previous owners haunt the place. When the Marksmen first moved in everyone was curious about the people who moved into the old house later that week Jeremy invited everyone from school including Amy and me. It was our first party and Amy fell head over heels for him but he didn't notice or give her the time of day either way he was much to busy trying to get to know me and I was SO not interested but Amy doesn't know that and I want to keep it that way.
"Amy, lets see how today go before we make any plans for later in the year ok. We're still waiting for our SAT scores remember." I looked at once I parked my black Honda HR-V in the schools parking lot. "Come Caitlin we both know we owned that tests ass, we're like the smartest people in the school," she says as she checks her make up on her purple compact mirror "Caitlin I know you are worried, don't worry I'm sure you passed with flying colors. Now lets go and see what classes we have together this year." She gives me a reassuring smile and gets out the car.
We were making our way to the main building following the herd of students when I got the feeling I was being watched, I looked around but didn't see anyone that stuck from the crowd. I stepped into the main office and picked up my schedule from Ms. Green our school counselor. "Morning Ms. Green are the SAT results back yet?" she smiles at me "morning Caitlin and yes they are in you will be getting them in your home room. Sorry to the bearer of bad news but you and Amy wont be in any classes together this year" before I had a chance to even process what she said I was shoved out the room by the group of kids trying to squeeze themselves into the small room.
I find my way out of the crowd and head towards my locker when I hear furious footsteps coming towards me "oh boy Amy found out we don't have class together". "This is an outrage, who do they think they are keeping us apart. Caitlin can you believe this bull" she snatches my schedule out my hands and gasp as she sees they placed me in nothing but PE. "Oh geez Caitlin you have PE with Coach K and twice back to back" she hands me back my schedule apologetic "well at least you get out before lunch, I get out after lunch. Plus I have Mr. Smith before and after lunch, so I'm not too upset I can stare at his gorgeous eyes all period". I shake my chuckling as I put my combination in and place all my stuff in my locker "well I wont be needing these." "Amy I would wait for you to get out but I think ill be too tired after PE" she shrugs "I totally understand if I were you I would leave right after too. Just give me a ring later to night. Catch you later." She runs off to her first class as first bell rings, "great first day and I'm late" with a sigh I run towards the gym.
"How nice of you to finally join us Ms. Cooper, you can take a seat with the rest of the class so we can get started." I make my way to the bleachers knowing for a fact my cheeks are red. I take my seat in the first row when my phone began to buzz in my pocket I took a quick peek and saw it was a message from mom 'Hi honey have a good day first day. Love mom' and from Amy 'hey C, how are you holding up in the torture cell' I send a quick reply to Amy saying 'Save me. Have a bounty on me head.
Everyone is staring'. "Ms. Cooper phones must be off in my class. This is your first warning I see it again and it will be mine 'til 3 o'clock." The class chuckle at my embarrassment as I turn my phone off, jerks. Coach K blows his whistle "thanks to Ms. Cooper you will run three laps around the gym" everyone groaned and glared down at me as they made their way to the tracks "do you want to make it five?" Three laps later we all gather around for our next task "looks like we have another late arrival, so nice of you to join us Jeremy.
You and Cooper are partners, everyone else get a partner and do everything on this sheet." He places a pile of papers on a desk by his office and sits down on a chair to finish a half eaten sandwich. I go to fetch the piece of paper and read down the list of works out we have to do as Jeremy lays out a yoga mat for us. "It says we have to do 30 sit-ups, 55 jumping jacks, 45 push-ups, and 60 pull-ups. Geez and that's just half of this list." I look up from the list and watch as Jeremy stretch out his long toned legs and touches his toes with ease then he smiles up at me "like what you see Caitlin?" I quickly look back at the list in my hands pretending I wasn't caught gawking at my best friends crush "you should stretch before doing those excises babe. So you don't hurt yourself." I placed my hand on my hip and looked down at him angrily "Its Caitlin not babe. I'm not your babe." I did my stretches as Jeremy watched me, letting me know whether or not I was doing it correctly.
Jeremy took the list, thinking about where to start. "Do you want to start with sit-ups or jumping jacks? They're easier then the rest." I shrug and say "I guess sit-ups since I'm already on the floor I can go first and you can hold my feet keeping count." He nods and kneels down by my feet and starts to count.
