One of the twins, slightly smaller of the two, took a step towards me. The black wolf was clearly in charge, closes his jaw onto the wolfs scruff for stepping out of line. The brown wolf yelps in response jumping back in line next to his brother with his tail tucked between his legs.
Fear ran through my veins keeping me firmly planted to my spot. The white wolf gently nudges me with his nose to get up, I didn’t even realized he moved closer to me “go..” he whispers so softly I barely even heard him. Too scared to move he nudges me again more firmly this time “go on.. go home.” He stepped completely in front of me forcing me to break eyes contact with the black wolf. Feeling the trance I was in break I focused on the blue eyes in front of me. He takes a step closer forcing me to take a step back. His words echoing in my head to go home. He holds me under his stare “don’t worry they can’t cross to this side of the pond” my legs begin to move with a mind of the own as I take step back and another creating distance between the strange wolves and myself. Once I was swallowed by the surrounding darkness, I turned around and bolted running all the way home.

Lily whines as she licks at my hand. I groan in pain, my whole body sore and stiff. “ Hush lily it’s early…” I grumble as I roll over causing my head to spin and my stomach to somersault. I instantly shot up and ran towards the bathroom barely getting the seat up as all of last night’s dinner comes up. Once my stomach was truly empty I slump back against the cool tiled wall, my hair pools to the side acting as a curtain covering my face. Lily whimpers at the doorway concerned “I’m ok girl, thanks for checking in on me. I guess the stress of moving and everything that’s happened is catching up with me.” With a heavy sigh I make my way to the sink splashing cold water on my face “how does a midnight snack sounds?” lily’s tail goes crazy as she shifts from foot to foot. I tiptoe my way down to the kitchen.
I filled a cup with milk and grab a cookie from the porcelain cookie jar on the island, grabbing a treat for lily, handing it to her we make our way to the massive living room. Nestled dead center on the wall was a 90in flat screen with surround sound speakers hanging on both ends. Across from the TV was a U-shaped memory foam charcoal grey couch dividing the massive room. Behind the couch in the corner closet to the floor to ceiling windows sat a grand piano. The large windows looked out to the front yard, but now they are covered by thick curtains Sporting a unique color pattern of red silver and green.
Lily trots over to the lit fireplace and lays down enjoying her bone. I plop myself onto to couch and begin to flip through Netflix, picking a horror film I make myself comfortable, my milk and cookies quickly forgotten.“Is everything ok, dear?" Judy ask as she places her hand on my shoulder. To engrossed in the movie I screamed at the touch jumping up , knocking over the cup of milk that was half gone. Judy smirks cover her mouth with her hand to hide her amusement. “oh I’m sorry dear, I didn’t mean to frighten you” she bends down to pick up the now empty cup while lily laps at the pool of milk.
I laugh feeling completely embarrassed “ It’s ok Judy, I was too busy watching the movie I didn’t even hear you. I hope I didn’t disturb you with the movie.”
“Oh nonsense I’m always up at odd hours in the night. What were you watching? It looked interesting.”
“I was watching a movie about a killer who goes around wear the skin of his victims. Very creepy.” I explain as I turn the TV off.
She stares at me for a bit before responding “interesting choice of movie… especially after what happened. Are you sure you’re Okay?” She grabs my hand giving a comforting squeeze, concern and worry written on her face.
“Oh…um yea. I didn’t even think about it like that. I’m ok honestly, just had a strange dream. This was moms favorite movie.”
Judy nods her head in understanding “go on back to bed it late dear.” She nudges me towards the stairs with lily close behind.
"Goodnight Judy." I turn back to give her a hug but freeze when I see her eyes shift from green to hazel and back. It happened so fast I'm pretty sure I imagined it. I shook my head and made way back to the room. Once back in my room I crack open the window feeling warm all of a sudden and pressure building in the back of my skull. I can feel a small headache forming. I glance at the clock and see its a few minutes past 1am, with a sigh I climb into bed turning over so I'm staring out the window. Staring at the full moon, my eyes grow heavy as I hear a single wolf howl. Almost as if it was saying goodnight.
