Full and too tired for dessert I excuse myself and head upstairs leaving everyone at the table laughing and clearing the table for the dessert. I plop myself onto my bed kicking my shoes off with a heavy sigh lily lays her head on the edge of my head “I’m ok girl I’m just tired" she whines again and does a quick turn and walks to the door. I groan and slide off the bed slipping into my purple fluffy slippers “ok let’s go and make it quick" lily barks happily and raced down the stairs with me close behind her and paced in front of the back door impatient as I slipped on a sweatshirt and open the door, lily dashes out and into the darkness behind the tree line.

I step out onto the back porch scanning the back yard. It’s big with a small building tucked away on the far right of the yard I’m assuming is the tool shed. I walk out onto the grass and walk towards the left side of the yard towards the fence that was almost to my hip, behind the fence was vegetables of all kinds, this must be the garden Alexandra was telling me about. Near the garden door was a wooden bench I sat down enjoying the peace and the sounds of nature as the sun began to set, coloring the sky with red, orange, purple and blue all mixing together creating the most beautiful sight any city girl could see.

Minutes pass and now the sun was completely down and stars began to light the sky “lily come here girl" I began to call out and whistle. A cold breeze rustled the tress causing them to sway leaving an eerie feeling that sent a chill down my spine. I wrap my arms around myself feeling cold. Suddenly the feeling that I was being watched came over has my pulse racing as I strain to hear for lily or any sound realizing its super quiet. I peer into the pitch darkness of the woods. I take a caution step forward “lily…” the sound of a snapping twig had me freezing in place heart racing, defying in my ears. I crouch down squinting as a faint yellow hue seem to glow in the darkness.

Every cell in my body screaming to run inside and hide under my covers like a small child but something keeps me frozen in place reaching out towards to what seems like eyes. Rustling and the sound of lily running out from the far right of the yard makes me jump clutching at my chest as my heart tries to beat it’s way out chest. I turn back to where I saw the eyes but now all I see is blackness. Lily licks at my hand drawing my attention away from the woods ready to go back inside.

I’m running fast through the woods “where am i?” I wonder as I keep running breathing heavy something in my gut is telling me to keep going faster and faster tugging to go somewhere, “where am I going?”. Trees seem so much taller then I last remember. “Did they grow taller or did I shrink.” I look up at the trees as I dash in between the with ease. I take a deep breath taking in the earthy smell around me. A peacefulness settles deep in my gut feeling like home. I can feel my muscles working warming up urging me to go faster to push forward. My paws avoiding the dead leaves and fallen twigs as if they had a mind of it’s own taking me somewhere. “wait! Paws!” I trip over my own feet that are somehow now paws and four of them at that. Tumbling and rolling into a boulder I lay stay on the ground panting “what’s going on?!” I look down at my now paws and examine them extending my claws and retracting then. I laugh “a dream that’s it. I’m dreaming…”

I stand up and the slight flick of my tail has me turning in circles “oh my god I have a tail!” I see a small pond nearby and walk up to it. I peer down at the water, greeted by a cream and light brown colored wolf with emerald green eyes. I lean closer trying to get a closer look flattening and flicking my ears amused I laugh and poke my reflection with my nose causing ripples to disorient my image. I jump into the pond and hop around happily I throw my head back and let out a long howl. I freeze as my howl is return by something close by I narrow my eyes and scan the area around me I get out the water my fur weighing me down I let out a growl as a twig snaps on my right “whose there…?” I lower my head as a wolf mostly white with patches of grey sprinkled along its face and back stepped forward with its head high.

His stance is confident and his toned muscles flexed under neither his smooth and shiny coat. The male wolf regards me fleetingly before narrowing his eyes and growled towards something behind me, I shift a bit to see who it was and still keep an eye on him. On the other end of the pond stood another wolf with two slightly smaller wolves, but this one frightened me. The soft breeze brushed through its short fur, as condensation escaped its cringed snout. Saliva coated its tongue as it brushed against sharp, ivory canines; the occasional drop hitting the ground. Its ears were pulled forward and its lips tucked up. Four black paws stood firm to the earth's soil, the beast lowered it's head, the eyes burned like fire with a lust to consume everything in its path as he stared menacingly at us. The other two wolves paced impatiently behind. They looked like twins both with many shades of brown mixed in strands with golden eyes.
