"So now I think we can basically read each other's minds when one of us presses the animal charm on the bracelet!" Connor excitedly explained what had happened after they had gone back home after patrol.
It was the morning after that very eventful day and the trio were walking back to school for their second day of the scholastic year.
"So you two can basically communicate with each other without even talking!?" Greg exclaimed. That was something that he wasn't expecting. How many additional stuff was there that came with them being the PJ Masks that they didn't know about?
Amaya nodded, smiling.
"That's so cool!", Greg exclaimed once again. "Can you two try it right now please?"
Connor and Amaya agreed to it and tried communicating telepathically again. Amaya had discovered it by accident the day before and now they were going to properly try it.
She thought of something and pressed the charm on her bracelet. Connor seemed to perk up and grinned.
"You asked me if I think we will get any homework today, right?"
"Yep!" Amaya replied in a cheerful tone, excited that the telepathy had worked.
Greg seemed mind blown by the interaction, but recovered from his shock shortly after.
"Hey, now that you two got these mind reading powers, I hope that you won't use them to cheat during exams!"
"Noooo, of course not!" Amaya answered, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Meanwhile, Connor looked deflated as he had suggested that idea to her outside their houses in the morning, to which she obviously declined.
After a while of talking about various subjects, Greg stopped and pointed at a pole and then looked at Connor.
"Be careful not to walk straight into that pole again Connor! Don't want you getting injured," Greg said while acting innocent.
Connor rolled his eyes. "Haha, very funny," causing the rest of the trio to laugh along.
They arrived at school, and six hours later it was time for them to head back home.
On the way back, they decided to take the route which passes through the park where their HQ was situated. This was mainly to see that everything was still in place and that nothing bad had happend while they were away.
HQ stood there in all its glory in the middle of the park. Lots of peoole had tried speculating on what it could be and represent, but thankfully, nobody guessed correctly. Not that they would know if they were right or wrong anyways, they didn't have any method to prove any theories they might have.
But despite its mysteriousness, HQ was still an attraction which attracted multiple of tourists and visitors and there were even mini statues of it being sold.
Amaya took out her PJ Communicator to check the CCTV Cameras of HQ's interior. Previously, they hadn't been able to do so, but she had found to add that feature to the three Communicators.
She checked thay everything was in order inside HQ and put the PJ Communicator back in her bag.
She took one last look at HQ before muttering to herself that she should best upgrade their defence system, just in case.
The trio then walked back to their houses and agreed to meet up again an hour later to go buy some school supplies that they needed.
Around an hour passed before they met up again, just as planned.
"Are we ready to go, lovebirds?", Greg asked, raising his eyebrows in a teasing way. Connor narrowed his eyes at him, while Amaya looked down and nodded.
Greg laughed. "Come on you two, let's go." And they made their ways towards the stationery.
Afterwards, they went to the local art shop for Connor to buy some art supplies he needed. But when they arrived there, they found that it had been vandalised.
The windows were cracked and the glass door was broken, looking like someone had broken inside. There was a red sign running across the broken door with the words 'CLOSED' written on it.
After peering through the windows, they saw that there was a huge mess inside. Paint was splashed everywhere, causing a mixture of different colours to paint every surface available. Papers were ripped from sketchpads, pencils were broken in half, craft materials were scattered around the floor...
It was practically as if a tornado had run throughout the store.
The trio shared a glance and retreated to an alleyway nearby.
Connor looked up to the sky and groaned. "It has been what, six, seven years? And the nighttime villains still run around terrorising the city and doing their villainy nonsense. Will they ever just, grow up and stop this? Haven't they already learned that they will never win?"
"Luna stopped though", Greg pointed out. And what he said was true. Luna Girl had stopped stealing stuff during the night and overall being a villain.
Apparently, she had found some very valuable rocks on the moon which could be exchanged for quite a lot of money, so she didn't need to keep stealing to make a living for herself. But that didn't mean that Motsuki wasn't still running around causing mayhem.
"I know about her, but what about the others? They are still around, always claiming that they will one day win and be able to defeat us and bla bla bla."
Greg simply shrugged at his reply, knowing well that his friend did have a point.
Amaya silently held out her fist and smiled at the boys. They grinned and did the same, bumping their fists in a three way fist bump.
"PJ Masks we're on our way...", she started.
"Into the night to save the day!" they all exclaimed, whisper shouting as to not be heard by other people passing by the entrance to the alley.
~~~
From behind a nearby building, someone stood hidden, nobody being able to see them.
"PJ Masks, you believe that you're going to be performing some simple, regular mission, whereas unbeknownst to you, this night will be the night of your downfall..."
Soooo....
We will get to the interesting stuff and the second story arc in the next chapter....
