Skye's POV:
I had woken up to the sound of that complete cow, Pansy Parkinson snoring. Literally, she sounded like a cow. The rest of the dorm was silent and dark. The moon was shining through the fogged-up windows. Three more days until the full moon. I sighed dramatically and pulled the covers over my head. I waited there in my warm spot for the rest of the night, or in other words a reasonable time to wake up. I had gotten up and dressed by the time the rest of the dorm was up. I was sharing a dorm with Ivy Alderton, Pansy Parkinson, Astoria Greengrass, Millicent Bulstrode and Jillian Werner. Everyone but Pansy and Millicent was my friend. Although Pansy acted as though she was my friend, she wasn't at all, And Millicent ignored me completely. When I first got sorted it was like a big deal. "A MUDBLOOD in SLYTHERIN?" But I wasn't the only one, I'm sure.
"Okay, Serious question," said Ivy as we walked down to the common room
I'm never in the mood for questions, especially in the mornings.
"Mmm.."
"Why do you always wear long sleeves? Aren't you hot"
My mind raced. What do I say? What do I say? What do I say?...
"Skye?"
"Uhmm... Because I'm always cold?" I suggested hopefully. Thank God Ivy didn't ask more questions. It looked like she believed it.
Skye was self-conscious and furious now. She stomped away from Ivy and up to the great hall for breakfast. Skye couldn't help noticing that someone was watching her movements closely. And that someone was of course Hermione.
Hermione's POV:
I had first met Skye when we had our flying lessons. Skye's eyes looked miserable and tired, and she had fresh, red gashes across her face. I remembered reading about the symptoms somewhere but my brain defied me. The thought had quickly left me because I had realized that she was talking to me. Now I was in the Great Hall eating my eggs on toast and sipping on my orange juice when I noticed Skye stomp to the Slytherin table and sit down. I couldn't keep my eyes off her, because that's the thing about Skye. Especially when she's angry. Her eyes flare up and her cheeks go red. She looks quite frightening actually. I'm surprised her and Ron are friends. But, I suppose, if she really is nice, there's no reason not to add her to the Bertie Bott's. We've arranged to meet up at the library, since we couldn't talk about it during that dreadful first potions class. We'll have to find a good place to meet up. We don't have the same common-rooms and the classes are mainly the Ravenclaw's and Gryffindor's. I reckon everyone will accept her. Then again, looking at her, I know something is up.
Ron's POV:
Ok. Don't stress. You've asked Hermione and she said she would think it over. We don't know that she'll say no. I mean she might. But she might not. And Hermione is super nice. That's why I asked her. Now, think about something else. Like Harry! I can't believe he's going to be on the Quidditch team! Hey! Here he comes now!
"Hey Harry!" I said excitedly. "How's the Quidditch Training?"
"We haven't really started yet. I reckon it'll be fun though!" Harry replied. "Did you know I'm the youngest seeker for a century!"
"Well actually, I can believe it!" Hermione came and joined them in the library. Her hair was bouncing as she skipped through the halls. I can't believe how beautiful she is. "You're dad was a seeker as well. And his father and grandfather both played professionally. It's in your blood. You've also already played Quidditch before, being a half-blood. I reckon you'll do wonderfully!"
Just then Neville walked through the doors, looking anxious. According to Harry, there was a potions class that had taken place after Quidditch that had been a total disaster. I wonder what happened.
Neville POV:
Worst Hogwarts lesson ever. I mean it's only my second one but I doubt one will be worse. Snape was completely targeting me. I was just taking notes on what he said! Why did he ask me questions about bezoars! What even is a bezoar? Like, How am I meant to know! Snape KNOWS I'm a dunce.
"Harry?!"
"Guess What Neville! I got on the quidditch team!"
"Amazing!"
"Yup! I'm gonna write to Mum and Dad and Sirius..."
Hermione POV:
"Hey everyone" I said. "So, Ron met this girl and she's super nice. We were thinking of adding her to the group!"
"That sounds fine. Where is she?"
I tensed up. How would I tell them about this. Should I take it slow. Or should I just say it? I don't know what to do. I mean, they all seem pretty nice and all. Then again, I haven't been friends with them for long. What if they freak out! I don't know what to do!
"Well Harry. We wanted to talk to you guys by yourself first. You know to see what you say without making her feel bad. We'll make up some excuse if you guys say no."
"Hermione" Neville said. "Is there a problem?"
"No" I said a little too quickly. "Umm. What do you mean?"
"You're hiding something aren't you?!" Neville accused.
"No! No, no, no!" I looked around at the faces staring at me, searching for information. "OK fine! You've got me. She's in Slytherin!" I blurted out.
"What! We can't have a Slytherin in our group! Voldemort was in Slytherin!" Neville said. Everyone winced when he said Voldemort.
"I know Neville! Not all Slytherins are bad though." I exclaimed.
"Hey! This is a library!"
"Sorry Madam Pince!" Everyone chorused.
We lowered our voices but everyone was still fighting. It was exactly as I'd feared. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eyes, I saw green streaks in black hair and fresh red scars on an arm. At first, I couldn't figure out who it was. Then I realised. It was SKYE! She was listening to everything we had said. I felt so bad. She heard people fighting about whether or not she was evil! Then, my attention turned to the scars on her arm. They were almost identical to the ones on her face. I stared at her arm in confusion. I knew I had seen those scars somewhere! But where?
Skye:
Oh no! Did Hermione see me? I hope she didn't. No one can find out I'm, well, you know! What will I say if she asks me about it! And I cannot believe that I'm being left out of the friend group just because of my house. Thankfully, I have two best friends, Ivy and Pansy, and that Hermione and Ron both stuck up for me. But can I be friends with Hermione and Ron if their friends snub me? I'm going to go confront them about it. But nicely.
"Hey!" I slowly walked towards them and out from behind the shelves, constantly pulling my sleeves down over my scars. "Hermione's right! Not all Slytherins are bad!" I confronted Harry and Neville. "Look. I get that with your past and stuff and You-Know-Who being in Slytherin, you probably don't feel like getting a Slytherin friend. But I'm not like the other Slytherins. For one, I'm muggle-born. And proud of it!" Hermione nodded approvingly at me. "I don't have any negative feelings towards muggles. Just because I'm different doesn't mean I hate them!" Ron gave me a thumbs up and I felt a surge of confidence. "If you don't want me in your group then fine. But only if it isn't because of my house. Otherwise, you'll be in trouble." I walked away confidently. I felt them staring, Hermione and Ron smiling from cheek to cheek, but I didn't look back. I just kept on walking. As I walked out I heard Neville say,
"She's definitely in!"
