"my lord! your highness, you look absolutely sick." a maid commented.
izuku only snapped his gaze towards her, his glare sharp though once he saw how afraid the woman was, it had softened.
"although it is my health, it is not my concern. i am fixing to go back out to search for katsuki." izuku explained roughly.
his eyes had dark circles around them, though his lids did not dare fall over his eyes in attempt to sleep. he simply could not.
the thought of katsuki being in his grandfather's hands, or worse, kept him up at night.
izuku could remember the way katsuki sobbed in his arms as he told the horrors of living with his grandfather. and now, he was back? how could he let this happen?
how could he let katsuki slip away so easily?
izuku groaned as he stared at the floor below, gripping onto his now slightly knotted curls for the umpteenth time, tapping his leg against the floor anxiously before standing up and heading toward the main entrance.
"i'm leaving to search independently once more. add more people to the search party, now." izuku demanded.
originally, the king had ordered a small search party in the haze of his panic. thinking that katsuki hadn't gotten far, there were only few people.
though now, days have passed with absolutely no sign of katsuki, sending izuku spiraling. there were now hundreds-near thousands of both servants and citizens searching for katsuki.
"call off the search party!" a voice demanded as tall, heavy double doors boomed as they opened. everyone in the main entrance immediately turned to face the sound, eyes widening at what they saw.
there, standing in the doorway, was king utsushimi. a proud smirk smeared across his face. izuku was all but happy to see this man, the same man who threatened to tear he and katsuki apart. and now, he came barging into his kingdom, barking orders.
"how dare you?" izuku growled, hands now rising the wrap around the sword which he held at his hip. "how dare you come into my palace, barking orders in my face about my business?! are you out of your mind?"
"ah, no! just readying myself to celebrate the wedding tomorrow, s'all." king utsushimi chuckled, ignoring the younger king's grip on his weapon.
izuku furrowed his brows at this, utterly confused as he released his grip on his sword out of utter shock. "tomorrow?"
"what on earth-! sir, what do you mean tomorrow, elaborate." the sudden voice of none other than ochako questioned. king utsushimi scoffed at this, facing the girl, "now who may you be? and why shall i answer to you?"
"uraraka! uraraka ochako, sir midoriya's head maid. third highest position in this entire palace, behind yaoyorozu momo's position as his private planner." ochako spoke proudly.
"now, my question. what do you mean tomorrow?" she asked once more, walking closer. king utsushimi only scoffed, "hasn't he told you? your king will be marrying my daughter tomorrow afternoon, unifying our kingdoms." his proud smile now outshining ochako's.
many gasps fill the room before whispers could be heard. "how could this be? sir midoriya has been completely-utterly infatuated with bakugou katsuki. he has been courting him for weeks.. months!" ochako argued, her eyebrows furrowing deeply with confusion.
"do you genuinely think that i have a say in this? there will be a war if i disobey, ochako. do you think i can handle war? i cannot even handle being away from katsuki.. i have to do what he says, he is my elder." izuku explained, his voice cracking at the sudden realization. his threatening tone now washed away as she stood in front of the opposing king.
"haha! ah, he is a rebellious boy though not an idiotic one." king utsushimi clapped, grinning brightly. "and if he truly is intelligent, he will call off this search for this silly boy."
izuku's lip trembled at this, he was being threatened once more. this time in front of his palace, he felt so weak, helpless. truly, no matter what his title was, he could not stand against this man.
so there he was, king izuku of the midoriya kingdom, now bowing his head low to king utsushimi in his own palace, showing his weakness to all of those who watched.
"call it off. call it all off." izuku spoke softly. though, his courtier hummed questioningly, as if he did not hear him correctly. "you heard me.. call it off! call it all off or are you simply that useless?!" he now shouted, earning many wide eyes from those around him.
izuku immediately began to shrink at the stares he earned, feeling oddly small at the negative attention.
"i-" was all izuku was able to utter in this moment before storming out, his eyes glued to the floor, nearly tripping over his own feet. izuku's steps were extremely unstable and those who watched the display could swear tears had hit the floor as he walked out.
once izuku was gone, the entire floor was silent, the air thick with awkwardness. this undeniable awkward silence swirled around their heads until the clicking of shoes filled it, earning the attention of all.
"now what on earth has happened here? why did i just witness the king bowing his head in shame? how has be began rendered so vulnerable?"
"yaoyorozu!" ochako gasped, a hopeful glint shining across here eyes. "so much, so much has happened i-"
"i'll be on my way out now, my lovely guards are awaiting my arrival." king utsushimi announced, cutting ochako off. the girl only scoffed, rolling her eyes as the man turned around, exiting the palace through the same double doors he had entered through.
once the man had gone, ochako then looked back over to momo, "i have a lot to tell you about.. in private."
-----
"he what?!" momo shouted in a confused haze. this was unusual, the content girl almost never raised her voice. though this - this was a total shock for her!
"he cannot get married to a woman he has not known for more than an hour! and what about katsuki?" momo asked. ochako then frowned, "katsuki's been missing for three days straight now. the king's been searching until he's grown sick. there is no sign of katsuki, the boy has seemingly disappeared." she explained.
momo gasped loudly at this, her eyes widening. "and just now, the search for him has been called off, which is why the king has been so hysterical. he wants katsuki back and honestly.. if it means that midoriya will be happy once more.. i want katsuki to come back." ochako explained sadly, her lip trembling with the threat of a soft sob escaping it.
momo's eyes widened at this, seeing the shorter girl so fragile worried her. "i feel oddly selfish for expressing this but - i just want everything to calm down once more. everything feels as if it is falling apart.. and so suddenly. it hurts to watch. though, i know that what i feel is nothing compared to the king."
"this entire situation is.. dastardly. though, it will be fixed for as long as i am in good health enough to be walking upon these royal floors. times as dark as this are to be expected, honestly." momo spoke, pulling ochako in for a hug.
"but what is it that we can do?" ochako questioned as she hugged momo back, absorbing the comforting warmth.
"we may have to search on our own, find the blond boy and return him." momo whispered softly into the ear of ochako, cautious of any stray listeners.
ochako only nodded softly and momo hummed, "things will return, even if we have to do it all on our own. for the sake of king izuku."
this alone gave them both hope, ochako fully trusting in momo's words all while momo felt motivated by the fact that ochako did, in fact, trust her.
though, who knows? maybe things would go right with the help of these two.
"for the sake of king izuku."
