Happy birthday, Shotaro!

Shotaro looked at the countless messages in his usual groupchat, sending back something that was his best attempt at a reply before shutting off his phone. It was a Thursday, meaning that his work shift would be starting in the late afternoon, alotting him time to sit back and breathe. Sungchan was already gone, but there was a card on the bedside table.

Shotaro picked up the card, looking at the flower that decorated the cover before opening it.

Shotaro,

Happy birthday! I know that this past year has been a little rough and all, but you've persevered through every challenge that we've faced. You're such an amazing person and I feel like some days you don't remember it. I'm always here to remind you. I'm always here for you.

Take things easier today. You deserve the world, you deserve a break, and you deserve a second to help yourself feel better now. I want you to make sure that you stay happy this year. You can always talk me about anything.

Take care! I'll see you later tonight.

I love you so much.

Sungchan

Shotaro smiled once he had finished reading the card. One thing that Sungchan was always better than him at was expressing his feelings, and he had done so effectively. Shotaro only wished that he would be able to say something like that.

He used to. He used to be the one making Sungchan flustered with what he said. He used to be the one with sweet, romantic sayings that would bring the couple to bliss.

That was all before.

Now, as Shotaro scanned over the letter again, he smiled. He knew that, while he might not be back at his forte, he was slowly getting better. Taeil was kind, his friends were kind, and Sungchan was even kinder. There was no reason for Shotaro to feel alone in the past.

He didn't anymore.
