"Hey, can you put my glasses over there?" Kuki asked, handing their glasses over to Syd on the other side of the bed. Syd grabbed the glasses, setting them down on the drawers next to her. "Thank you." Kuki said before turning away, and trying to get some sleep. "Good night." Kuki whispered. "Good night..." Syd whispered back, in a chilling tone. Kuki could feel a chill run down their spine, they tried to ignore it and fall asleep but they could feel their stomach swirling in fear and worry.
—-----------------------
Later that night, Kuki woke up, sweaty and confused. They tried to close their eyes and go back to sleep but that same feeling took over them again. They turned, trying to fix their position, moving around to try and feel comfortable. They opened their eyes in frustration only to be met with fear and worry as they realized Syd wasn't lying next to them anymore.
They froze, eyes shot open. "Where is she?" They thought, even though they didn't have their glasses on they could still tell what was and what wasn't there. "Maybe she went to the bathroom? But... It's so late. I'd expect her to be asleep by now. So why?" Kuki didn't move, they lied there, eyes shut, confused, worried, and scared. After what happened to them today they were worried that anything could happen to them now at any moment.
No matter how much they tried, they couldn't fall back asleep. That feeling of being watched wouldn't leave them alone. With their eyes closed, their mind had already made up so many scenarios of all sorts of figures and monsters lurking in the room. They turned facing the wall, trying to overpower the bad thoughts with good ones, Until, the little girl from earlier came into their head. Their eyes shot open, their breathing shaky, and unsteady. They didn't know why the girl came into their head, and why they felt so scared, something about that girl just didn't feel right. No, everything in that place didn't feel right. They were lucky to have even gotten out. Ever since they left that place something seemed off with Syd, she wasn't acting like her usual self.
They thought back on their day, what could've made Syd feel unsettled. "Maybe she got a concussion hitting her head earlier?" They thought. Then, the girl came back into their head again. Fear setting in again. Then, they remembered how Syd was basically entranced by that girl. Frozen, staring, she didn't even pay mind to Kuki calling out to her, she also didn't even notice the train beaming towards them.
"But how? I was watching the whole time. That girl didn't do anything to Syd but stare. Is there something I'm missing? I know Syd has a horrible attention span but it's nothing like that. She was basically frozen in place, as that girl watched, smiling." Kuki shivered just thinking about it.
Even in that moment, everything felt unsettling, something was wrong, they just didn't know what. They tried calming themself, taking deep breaths, attempting to clear their mind, and focus on their breathing. They turned again, fixing their sleep position and just hoping to pass time long enough for them to be able to fall asleep.
They lied there, in silence. Only thing they could hear was their breathing. Only their breathing. Or so the thought. They listened closely, their breathing going faster and faster... as the others stayed calm, loud, and heavy. They kept their eyes shut, in fear. Hoping their mind was playing tricks on them and that they were alone. They thought of the possibility of Syd coming back, but they realized... they never heard the door open...or close.
They slowly opened their eyes a little bit, their eyes exploring the room, their body not daring to move or make it obvious they were awake. Nothing. They sighed in relief, thinking their mind was actually just playing tricks on them. They closed their eyes, their breathing steadying once again. They moved around a bit, trying to fix up a comfortable sleeping position.
Then, the breathing started up again. A breathing that isn't theirs. They slightly opened their eyes, expecting the room to be empty. Kuki gasped in horror. They saw something they'd only thought they'd see in their imagination, or some sort of horror movie.
A figure standing, watching, at the foot of the bed. Kuki shut their eyes, terrified. "What the hell was that?" They thought, their breathing becoming unsteady and heavy again. "No, who was that?" The image replaying in their head over and over again. "It couldn't have been..." They thought, the realization setting in.
"Syd?"
