Chapter 8: Was That A Dream?...
Kuki sits up as she wakes up, her heart racing as she remembers what happened that night. She tried calling herself down telling herself it was just a dream and that it didn't really happen. "Good morning. " Syd says. Kuki turns around slowly. "M-morning... " Kuki responds shakinly.
Kuki didn't know why she felt so scared, she just did, something in her guy was telling her that something wasn't right. Then she started asking herself, was what happened last night a dream? Or... Was it real? "Did you sleep well? " Syd asks. Syd stares at Kuki "huh? Oh. I slept fine... " Kuki stares back at Syd feeling terrified, it feels like she's staring into her soul. "Good... " Syd says smiling, she stands up. "I'm gonna go... " Syd says slowly. "Huh? " Kuki responds confused. "To the bathroom! Of course... " Syd responds awkwardly. Kuki nods awkwardly and watches as Syd awkwardly speed walks out of the room leaving the door open behind her. Kuki watches as Syd walks the wrong way she riots her head confused "hey, isn't it that way? " Kuki says pointing towards a different room. "Oh. Yeah! I knew that... " Syd responds awkwardly smiling walking towards the  bathroom. Kuki gets out of bed putting her hands on the drawers, her eyes widen and she frantically moves her arms around when she realizes. Kuki walks out of the room and knocks on the bathroom door. "Huh! Hello? " Syd yells out. "Uh hey." Kuki says. "Have you seen my glasses?" Kuki asks. "Um" Syd responds, then Kuki hears a flush. A moment of silence goes by. Syd walks out of the bathroom wiping her hands on her pants. "No. I haven't... Sorry" Syd says. "Oh okay... " Kuki responds. "If you want I can help you look for them. " Syd tells her. "What no. I'm fine." Kuki responds turning away. "Let's just go down stairs okay. " She says. "What about your glasses?" Syd asks. "I'll figure it out later. " Kuki responds going down the stairs, Syd follows. Syd's grandma is busy making breakfast in the kitchen. "Woah it smells good" Kuki says. Syd's grandma turns around "Good Morning! How did you guys sleep? " she says. Syd looks up at her nodding and holding up her thumb, Syd's grandma turns to Kuki "What about you? " she asks. "Oh. Um. Yeah... " Kuki responds.  "Good. Hold on... " Syd's grandma says looking closer at Kuki. "What? Is there something on my face? " Kuki asks worried, she stands up straight. "Where are you're glasses?" Syd's grandma asks. "Huh? Oh... Yeah" Kuki responds confused. "I put them on the top of the drawers... Like last night and.. Um well I woke up and they were gone." Kuki responds shrugging. "Oh well, hmmm... You know what. Hold on. " Syd's grandma says turning off the stove, and waking towards one of the kitchen drawers where she stores random stuff just in case, Kuki looks over at her confused. Syd's grandma is searching around the drawers "okay... Here!" Syds grandma shouts out standing up straight holding up three pairs of glasses in her hands. "Here" Syd's grandma holds out the glasses for Kuki. "Check if these are good, then you can use these until you find yours or get your extra pair. You have an extra pair right?" Syd's grandma asks. "Uh yeah." Kuki responds, she thanks Syd's grandma and walks away to the bathroom. Syd's grandma goes back to cooking. Kuki closes the door behind her and tries on the glasses.  The first glasses were to big for her head and kept slipping down, the second glasses were good but one of the lenses kept popping off, the third glasses were fine they fit her head and the lenses weren't popping off. Kuki takes a moment to look at herself in the mirror before she walked back out of the bathroom. Kuki breathes in "damn." She says breathing out. "I look old. " she says turning towards the door putting her hand on the knob. She hesitates for a moment, this feeling in her stomach wouldn't leave her alone, she didn't know why though. Kuki calms herself down taking a deep breath then breathing out, finally she walks out. Kuki walks towards Syd's grandma. "Uh, here. " Kuki says holding the other two glasses out for her. "Just put them over there. " Syd's grandma tells Kuki pointing towards the glasses she originally grabbed the glasses from. "O-ok" Kuki responds walking towards the drawers and placing the glasses inside. Kuki walks over to the table where Syd is sitting, she takes a seat. "Hey, girls! " Syd's grandma yells out. The girls look up and look towards Syd's grandma. "Im almost done right now, what do you guys want? There's pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. " She says. Syd's grandma finishes up the food turning off the stove and grabbing the big plate with all the food, taking it over to the table placing it down. "Hold on let me go get the rest. " Syd's grandma turns back around, walking to go get the rest of the plates and utensils. Syd's grandma comes back with three plates, and 3 forks and butter knifes. She places one plate in front of Syd's seat, one plate in front of Kuki's seat, and one plate in front of her seat. She then turns back around and opens more cabinets taking out syrup, she walks back to the table placing the syrup on the table and finally taking a seat, Syd's grandma pushes herself in. "You girls can get what you want" She says pointing at the plate in the middle of the table with all the foods. They all get what they want and start eating. "Hey, girls? I have to ask something. " Syd's grandma breaks the silence. Kuki looks up at her still chewing, Syd looks up at her confused. "Did one of you go out last night?" She asks. "What?" Kuki responds confused remembering what happened in her dream last night. "Last night... " Syd grandma starts, Kuki's eyes widen thinking about her "dream". "I woke up to footsteps." Syd's grandma continues. "So I put on my glasses and looked out the door and I could just barely make out a shadow looking at me, but when I tried to get a closer look at it, the shadow hastily turned around and ran down the stairs." She says. "Is that all? " Kuki asks. "Hmm, No... " Syd's grandma responds. Kuki looks at her as if she's begging to hear more. "Moments after that, I heard the front door open and close." Syd's grandma finishes. Kuki looks over at Syd, she looks over at her too. Syd turns her head looking at her grandma, she shakes her head "I didn't. " Syd shrugs turning back over at Kuki. Syd stares at Kuki slightly tilting her head, Kuki felt terrified she felt like she was frozen, something about her wasn't right, her heart felt like it was about to pound out of her chest. It felt like if she didn't say anything soon something would happen, she didn't know what though... She just knew it wasnt good. Kuki snaps out of it looking over at Syd's grandma "uh, I didn't... " Kuki responds. "Hey, maybe it was just a dream or something like that. " Syd tells her grandma with a reassuring smile. "Yeah.... Maybe you're right. " Her grandma responds. Kuki looks back down picking up her fork and picking at her food telling herself she's just thinking crazy and over thinking stuff when she thinks about what happened in her dream last night and what Syd's grandma had just said and how they sort of connected in a way.  She starts to question whether what happened last night was actually a dream... Or real.
