To Die For (Shikamaru x Fem Reader)

Shikamarus p.o.v:

It was about nighttime when we arrived to the area where team 8 set up for the night, I also notice that Neji is still with them yelling at Kiba. I don't blame him, the guy can be kind of an asshole, I guess it just comes with his cocky personality. Hinata was trying to calm them down but her quiet voice couldn't be heard over their shouting and Shino was crouched by a log looking at some kind of beetle.
I put (Y/N) down gently and we started walking towards the group.  Of course as soon as we get there Kiba has to be all in my space asking a million questions, some of which weren't necessary.

(Kiba): "So, who is this beauty?"
"Her name is (Y/N)."
(Kiba): "Is she your girlfriend?"
"No, bu-..."
(Kiba): "Oh so she's up for grabs!"

Kiba looked over at her, his eyes obviously roaming her body, he gave her a smirk then wiggled his eyebrows at me. I could tell he was making her uncomfortable so I moved in front of her blocking his view. Annoyed at the protectiveness, he glared at me and looked like he was about to square up. I didn't want (Y/N) to get caught in the crossfire if things escalated further.

"See that girl over there?"
(Y/N): *nods*
"Her name is Hinata, I need you to go stand by her."

(Y/N) slightly nodded before running over to Hinata, they moved back towards Neji who immediately stood in front of them. Shino.....was still looking at bugs, not being fazed by what's going on. Kiba snarled at me and clenched his fist.

"Kiba I'm not looking for a fight."
(Kiba): "Then why get in my way? There's no way she would want you!"
"And what makes you think she wants you?!"

I look over to Hinata and (Y/N), Hinata is holding her trying to keep her calm. I was distracted for too long and received a punch right in the face that knocked me back making me disoriented. Kiba ran up and pulled his arm back to land another punch, his fist was inches from my face when he halted. I looked behind him and saw Neji holding his arm.

(Neji): "That's enough Kiba!"

Neji pulls an agitated Kiba away from me putting an end to the fight, I wipe blood off my lip and make way to (Y/N). As soon as I reached her, she jumped into my arms and wrapped her arms around my neck. Hinata stood there with a smile then gestured to our tent.

(Hinata): "You both have had a long day, and Kiba didn't help. Me and Neji will talk to Kiba.
"Thank you Hinata."

Before we go to our tent I noticed (Y/N) wandering off to a clearing by a stream, she lays down and places her hands behind her head she lets out a sigh as she stares at the stars. I knew she was in deep thought and that this war has been tearing her apart.
I go and lay by her wrapping my arm around pulling her close to me. In the corner of my eye I see a tear falling down her face, I roll on to my side and put my hand on her cheek and wipe the tears on her face.

"We don't need to talk about it, but I want you to know that I'm here for you."
(Y/N): "Thank you Shikamaru, I needed someone and you've been here for me every time."
"Well I don't want you to be alone so I'm not going anywhere."

I lean in to kiss her forehead, feeling her face get warm as she blushes. That moment quickly ends when we hear growling coming from some bushes not to far from us. (Y/N) quickly stands and begins to take out her katana.

(Neji): "Wait! Don't attack!"

(Y/N) stares at him confused but is quickly tackled to the ground by a large dog.

(Neji): "Its just Akamaru."

Akamaru looks at (Y/N) and tilts his head. We all start laughing and she went over to Akamaru and scratches his ears while shaking his head a bit.

(Y/N): "He's so cute! How do you know him?"
(Neji): "He belongs to Kiba."

Akamaru gets up and runs up and rejoins Kiba who is talking to Hinata about The upcoming battle tomorrow. Soon we will be joining up with Naruto to face Madara and ten tails. I don't know how things will turn out but whatever happens I'm not going to let anything happen to (Y/N). I get up and help her get up as well.

"We need to get some rest."
(Y/N): "That's true. We will need all of our strength for tomorrow."
(Neji): "Have a good night you two."
(Y/N): "Goodnight Neji."

I smile and take (Y/N)s hand and begin walking to our tent. Once we got there I layed down the blankets and pillows, since I was so exhausted from all the fighting earlier I took off my sandals and jacket, and crashed.
I noticed that (Y/N) hadn't joined so I took her hand slowly tugging on it softly.

"You know you don't have to stand there, you can join me."
(Y/N): *smiled shyly and takes off her sandals and jacket along with her katana.* I guess we've shared a bed before so I might as well."

She lays next to me and places a hand on my chest and rested her head against my shoulder. I begin playing with her hair being careful when I get the tangles out, I turn my head and planted a kiss on her forehead. When I pulled away we made eye contact making us both blush.
I place my hand on the back of her head and pulled her into a kiss. I felt sparks go throughout my body as she leaned into the kiss. As we pull apart I decide now is the best time to tell her because I might not get another chance. I take a deep breath and look into her eyes.

"I want you to be mine (Y/N)."
(Y/N): "Really?"*Her eyes are wide and she's blushing hard*
"Of course! You make me feel complete and like I have a reason to keep going. I never thought I would fall for you this fast but considering that the world may or may not end tomorrow made me realize my feelings a lot faster."
(Y/N): "I feel the same way."
"I want to take care of you and keep you happy for as long as you let me."
(Y/N): "Thats going to be a long time."
"It better be."*I smile and take her hand and bring it to my lips to kiss it* "That being said, Will you be my girlfriend?"
(Y/N): "Of course I will Shikamaru."

We both smiled and shared a kiss. I pulled the blankets over us and held her close to me feeling honored that I was her boyfriend.
