The Comfort of a Sensei

2 weeks after the war

Shikamarus p.o.v:

Me and (Y/N) have been living together for 2 weeks now and everything has been really nice and quiet. Sometimes we go out and look at the clouds together and other times we take a walk around the village, which is now under construction. I was finishing a game of shogi with Ōnoki beating him again.

(Ōnoki): "Looks like you beat me again! Please invite me again sometime!"

I walk him to the front door and open it saying goodbye. Not a minute later I hear banging on my front door. I sigh and turn back to the door and open it to a grinning Naruto.

(Naruto): "Soooo who's your girlfrieeennnnd?"
"Her name is (Y/N) I met her during the war."
(Naruto): "When were you planning on introducing us?"
"Later but right now she's with Kakashi Sensei discussing personal matters."

As soon as I finish saying that Kakashi opened the door for (Y/N) and followed her in.

(Naruto): "You were sayiiinnng?"
"What a drag...Naruto this is my girlfriend,
(Y/N)."

Naruto immediately runs over and begins shaking her hand asking her a lot of questions. He's turning this into such a drag...Thankfully Kakashi is still here.

(Kakashi): "Naruto calm down, and for love of god give her some space. You've only just met the girl."
(Naruto): "You're one to talk! You only met her an hour ago and now you're opening doors for her?!"
(Kakashi): "Naruto that's what a man is suppose to do for women."
(Naruto): "Ehhhh sure, whatever. Let's go get ramen together!

Just then a gentle knock was at the front door. (Y/N) quickly goes and opens the door inviting Hinata in, once she sees Naruto she quickly hides behind (Y/N).

(Naruto): "Oh hi Hinata! We were all about to get ramen! You should come!"
(Hinata): *shyly nods in agreement*
(Naruto): "Great! It's settled we are all getting ramen and Kakashi Sensei is paying!"
(Kakashi): "I'm what?"

Before Kakashi could say no we all ran out, Naruto held Hinatas hand trying to get her to run faster which instead made her blush. I smiled and took (Y/N) hand while we make our way to Ichiraku Ramen. We all laugh as we heard Kakashi yelling after Naruto knowing he's chasing after us.

(Kakashi): "Naruto!"
(Naruto): *Smacks his butt at Kakashi* "You're going to pay the tab Sensei! No arguing!"

At Ichirakus:

(Naruto): "Aaah nothing beats Ichiraku ramen!" *Begins inhaling his ramen.*

Everybody nods in agreement while slowly eating theirs. Kakashi rolls his eyes as he watches Naruto finish a third bowl of ramen, before he could order anything else Kakashi quickly pays for everything before walking off with Iruka.

(Naruto): "Thanks Sensei!" *snickers quietly as he knows Kakashi was annoyed.*

Both Iruka and Kakashi turn around and wave at the group.

(Hinata): "Coming here was a good idea Naruto." *quickly looks away as she blushed.*
(Shikamaru): "Agreed I was wondering what we should do for dinner."
(Y/N): "It was delicious! I haven't had ramen in a long time!"
(Shikamaru): "Well me and (Y/N) should get going if we want to make it home before dark."
(Naruto): "Ahhh man! Well it was really nice meeting you!" *Gives a huge grin while waving at (Y/N)*
(Y/N): "It was nice meeting you too! Oh! Hinata you should come by tomorrow if you're not busy!"
(Naruto): *Puts his arm around Hinata* "I think I'll take her somewhere tomorrow!"

Hinata looks like she's about to faint feeling Narutos arm around her. Shikamaru takes
(Y/N) hand and begins walking home with her.

(Naruto): "I think they're a pretty cute couple! What do you think Hinata?"
(Hinata): *is zoned out and blushing like crazy.*
(Naruto): "Hinata?"

Outside the Nara Home:
(Y/N) p.o.v:

We arrive home a little after dark and get into our usual night clothes, I put on an oversized shirt and shorts while Shikamaru only sleeps in loose pants. Tonight was one of those nights where memories of my dad would overwhelm me so I go outside and begin staring at the stars.

"I wish you were here dad, there's so much I want to tell you. I wish I could've introduced you to my boyfriend. I know what you're thinking, my daughter has a boyfriend, that's news to me! But I honestly think you would've liked him."

A shooting star crosses the sky after I talk like it's a sign he was listening to me and smiling. I could hear someone coming up behind me through the yard, but I didn't expect it to be Kakashi.

(Kakashi): "I was passing by and overheard you talking to your father. We were friends while I was in the Anbu, I learned a lot from him."
"Really?"
(Kakashi): *puts an arm over (Y/N) shoulder but rests his hand on the bench* "Yeah, when you were born he wouldn't stop talking about you. He had big plans for you and bragged about how you were going to be a strong kunoichi. He wasn't wrong."
"I'll never be as strong as he was."
(Kakashi): *sighs* "When you were old enough I thought I was going to be your Sensei, when I didn't see you on the roster I had thought your father took you into private schooling. I went to ask him about it and that's when he told me that you were selected to be in the Anbu, I was a little sad because I wanted to see you progress but seeing you now I can understand why he was so proud of you. You've become a beautiful and strong shinobi, you said you'll never be as strong as he was and you're right about that, you see, you're stronger."
"You really think so?"
(Kakashi): *does a closed eyed smile* "I know so, and remember Shikamaru also lost his father in the war so he needs you as much as you need him. With that said I'm going to go, have a good night (Y/N)."
"Thank you Sensei, and good night."

Once Kakashi leaves I go back inside and head to the bedroom, but as I'm walking down the hall I could hear Shikamaru crying. I walked in and saw him with his face in his hands and laying beside him were pictures of both his father and Asuma Sensei, I go up to him and place a hand on his tear stained cheek. He looked up at me and immediately pulled me into his arms, he hung on tight and had his face on my shoulder.

(Shikamaru): "P-please don't ever leave me, I can't lose another person I love!"
"You won't lose me my love, I promise."

He grips my waist and we both lay down in bed, I kiss his cheek while I pull his hair tie off and run my fingers through his soft hair. I could feel him calm down and he looked me right in the eyes, he placed his hand on my face and rubbed my cheek with his thumb.

(Shikamaru): "God I love you so much, you know that right?"
"Yes, and I love you too."
(Shikamaru): "I know this is cheesy but I know that you're my king piece."

He kisses me softly before turning me away so we are spooning, he wraps his arms around me and pulls me as close to him as he can.

"You're my king piece too Shikamaru."

I felt him smile against my neck and we both go to sleep for the night.
