Laying on the picnic blanket with Milli Brianne looked up from the clipboard of math sheets in front of them. They'd begun working through them while the others worked on clearing the house.

But, now Brianne's back was beginning to throb from laying on her stomach arched up for so long.

She sits up and bent forward, trying to stretch her back the other way, which resulted only in more pain. She sat up straight again, with a small groan.

"Are you okay?" Milli asks, sitting up also. She rubs at her ribs.

"Yeah," Brianne answers, watching Mark and Natali work.

Mark and Natali had gone to work clearing the deck like area near the front door to the place.

The younger girls hadn't been over there since the clean up began, but they suspected it wasn't getting very far yet.

Inside the house, the three teenage girls were working on the first floor. They couldn't actually see who was where, but occasionally a bunch of stuff would be tossed out of the window at the end. Or out the door into Mark and Natali's area.

This often resulted in Mark and Natali jokingly telling them to keep their mess in their own area. Brianne could hear their laughter from hers and Milli's spot away from the house.

It made her heart ache and she wished she could be over there helping them. But she knew she'd only get in the way.

Brianne lay down on her back and stared up at the sky. She often liked to look for shapes in the clouds, a favourite pass time of hers used to be guessing what they meant.

She must have been wearing a thoughtful expression, because Milli lay down beside her, looking up also.

"What cha thinking about?"

"Nothing much," Brianne replied. "It's silly really."

Thats what her father used to tell her anyway and it was going to take her alot of work to undo everything he'd ever told her. Every thought he'd ever conditioned into her head.

Milli pointed at cloud in the sky, "that one looks like a dog, don't you think?"

Brianne tilted her head at it, "Yeah. It does a little."

She smiled. Beside her Milli smiled as well.

"I used to watch the clouds all the time, I used to try and predict the future through them," Brianne confessed, then continued in a ramble. "It's silly I know-"

"No," Milli cut her off, "it isn't. Tell me what you'd predict from our dog?"

Brianne chuckled slightly.

"Okay..." Brianne began hesitantly, "Well, dogs are loyal and a man's best friend. And animals don't know cruelty, they're pure of heart... So, my guess is a loyal, faithful friend is either needed or on their way."

Milli smiled. "I like that. Tell me another?"

"Okay," Brianne hid a shy smile.

For the first time in forever Brianne actually felt wanted and she felt like all her oddities were normal.

She gazed up at the clouds passing over head.

"What about that one? The ballerina?" Milli asked.

"Okay... But I thought it looked more like a baby."

"Do both then," Milli suggested.

"A baby could be a new family member for obvious reasons, or as symbolism for a new beginning. While a ballerina is probably for fun which is on its way."
