A week went by where Brianne was left at home with either Natali while Milli and Mark were at school and Kitty helped Katy clean up the cabin.

A week went by without any further mention of Milli teaching her how to read.

But Brianne didn't really mind. If Milli wasn't teaching her to read that meant she didn't have to see how pathetic she was at it.

More than anything Brianne wished she could talk to her sister. Not Katy. Her other sister, Adrianna had been taken in by their grandmother after a particularly bad episode with their father.

She'd been unable to take all three girls due to her age. After many arguments between the girls Adrianna went with her.

They were promised lots of visits with her and they knew their grandma had tried, but been turned away. Brianne had so much new stuff to tell her and she wondered if Natali would let the two of them visit.

Brianne also knew that she probably wouldn't ever ask her. Natali had already done so much for her, that she didn't dare ask anything more.

But never mind that she thought, as she sat on the living room floor, doing gentle stretches. Nothing too taxing that might burst a stitch or break open a heeling wound.

The front door opened and Oki entered with Mark and Milli. Natali had left to pick them up from school. Leaving Brianne with her sister and Kitty.

She had no idea where the pair of older girls was. Milli came straight into the living room. Brianne was just getting up. Milli offered her hands and helped her up.

"I finally got a book for us," Milli said by way of greeting.

"A book for us?" Brianne asked weakly.

"When you said you couldn't read very well, I wasn't entirely sure what that meant. So, I just grabbed a couple," Milli added. "So I chose Cherry Blossom and the Golden Bear, A Bad Case of Stripes, and Spirit Animals: Wild born."

"I haven't heard of any of those," Brianne admitted.

"That's okay! I tried to pick books I thought you might maybe enjoy."

"Okay!"

Oki came in only briefly, she'd forgotten her ice skates and had to run upstairs to grab them. Before leaving again, on her way out the door Katy called out to her.

"Do you mind if I come too?" she asked.

"Not at all. Although I was gonna run," Oki told her. "But I'm sure Natali wouldn't mind driving us."
Natali entered the hallway after hearing their conversation.

"Of course not. Would you like me to pick yous up too?"

"Umm, nah," Oki told her. "Victor or Sophia will drop us off."

The rink was pretty relatively quiet. The two girls got inside and Oki showed Katy where she could hire skates - and introduced her to Sophia, before she joined Victor on the large rink.

Katy went to the smaller rink first. She had been skating before but not for a long time and wanted to get her groove back first.

After about half hour, she came to the edge of the rink and put the skate guards on and made her way to the larger rink.

Standing at the edge for a few minutes she watched as Oki skated backwards, and came up on one foot.

Curious, she kept watching. Oki spun around to face forwards and lept into the air, spinning twice before she landed and skated in a circle to slow. Her tail moving fluidly behind her.
