"But, Kath," Alexandria groaned as she looked at the dress that Kathleen had picked out for her. "It's freezing outside!"
"But, Alex," Kathleen mocked. "You'll look so pretty! Besides, the dance is indoors! Not to mention, you'll have Paul to keep you warm." She wiggled her eyebrows teasingly.
Alexandria's cheeks turned red and she shook her head. "Absolutely not, Kathleen!" she hissed.
"Oh, come on Alex. I was your age once; I know what you two get up to!"
Alexandria crossed her arms and cocked an eyebrow. "And what is that, exactly?" she asked Kathleen.
"A whole lotta snoggin'!" Kathleen responded, bursting out into laughter when it sent Alexandria into yet another blushing frenzy. Alexandria broke eye contact with her sister and looked down at the ground, bringing a hand up to brush some hair from her face. "It's all right, I'm not gonna be mad at you if you confirm my suspicions...just a word of advice, though, Alex," Kathleen said, suddenly dawning a serious look. "Do not get bloody pregnant."
"Kath!" Alexandria cried horrifically, shielding her humiliated face with both of her hands. "We don't...we don't do that!"
"You don't now, but you might someday!"
"I'm only sixteen!" Alexandria said. "Am I supposed to do that right now?"
"Dunno, Alex...are you?" Kathleen grinned. "Look, I'm not telling you to, but I bloody know how I was and how all my schoolmates were." She paused and shrugged. "Just, if you do decide to indulge in that...tell me, and I'll keep you safe. I won't be mad at you; either, so don't worry about that."
"You'll keep me safe how?" Alexandria asked.
"I'll give you all the shite you need to not end up like me. You know, a mother and the lot."
Alexandria nodded. "Well, I will tell you. If that ever happens."
"I bet it will," Kathleen said. "I've seen the way you two look at each other."
Alexandria raised an eyebrow. "And what in the world does that mean?" she asked.
"Just means that you've both got raging bloody teenage hormones, and someday soon, that snoggin' isn't going to be enough to keep the both of you satisfied."
Alexandria blushed in embarrassment again, but now that Kathleen was on the subject of something bigger than kissing, she had some questions. "Can I tell you something, Kath?" she asked.
Kathleen shrugged. "Sure, you can...just as long as you put this dress on so I can see it." She smiled encouragingly. Alexandria rolled her eyes.
