Y/n's POV:4 Weeks later, day of departure:
I was quite nervous about the upcoming events for the Chunin exams, I knew Orochimaru was strong, well I mean he is a one of the legendary Sanin so I should expect that. It I really hope that I can stop him from getting to Sasuke, but I feel that it would be inevitable. I don't know if I can do much but I will try if the opportunity arises.
The Kazekage would leave after us, and arrive a few days before the last exam. This is when Orochimaru would attack him and kill him. Not that I really minded as my main goal was to protect Gaara and advance to Chunin, although I doubt he needed very much protection. I really hoped I could be next to either any of the team 7 or Orochimaru, just so I could observe and analyse their actions and because it seemed fun.
During the previous four weeks, all I did was train intensely, I wanted to be just as strong as Gaara so I wouldn't be a burden during the exams. If I wasn't able to keep up, I'd just be dead weight to the team, and I'd be discarded of. Baki let us in with the Kazekage had ordered after he discussed it with Oreopedo. The only way we could advance to Chunin was through this plan, to attack the leaf, rather than the actual exam. This would be an interesting few months...
2 days later:
We were about another days walk and run away from the leaf village, and walking there was beyond a drag. The sun was getting lower in the sky and my feet were killing me, like I'd rather fall over and die then continue another 5 minutes. We had travelled far enough that the sand had disappeared from sight and trees were all around us, Baki then signalled us to stop.
"We will be stopping here for the night, pick your spot and no fires because it could draw unwanted attention, and not just animals..." Baki announced in a low growl. I flung my backpack onto the ground near a large tree and sat down after brushing the sticks and leaves out of the way before getting comfortable and leaning against the tree. Gaara sat down beside me and laid his head on my shoulder so I put my own against his. He closed his eyes and I knew Suzuki was 'entertaining' Shukaku, which allowed him to sleep, I was glad that I had Suzuki instead of Shukaku, that would be such a different world.
I felt eyes on me so I glanced up and looked around before seeing Temari and Kankuro smirking and whispering to each other whilst both their eyes were fixated on me. When they noticed I was shooting them a glare their smirks widened and they giggled whilst Baki attempted to hid his own smirk. Oh they were lucky Gaara was sleeping on my shoulder. Because if he wasn't they'd be struggling for air right now, but right now I couldn't risk waking Gaara, oh and did I mention how he's really not a morning person? Or rather just hates waking up in general, to be honest I see where he comes from.
Temari and Kankuro got comfortable before they too drifted to sleep, Baki had brought his own tent but didn't allow anyone else inside saying this was some sort of 'good training exercise' or something, who knows but I was starting to get jealous. The ground was rough with stones and sticks which I failed to sweep away, poked and prodded me. Therefore I was unable to sleep. Then Gaara stirred before opening his beautiful seafoam coloured eyes as he stole a glance at me but then looked up at the stars. I looked back at him and softly smiled.
"Do you think the stars ever get lonely up there?" Gaara whispered causing me to turn my attention to the star littered sky. It was a beautiful clear night and the stars looked like glitter radiating in the ebony sky.
"Why would they be lonely when they have the moon?" I quietly responded, not wanting to draw the unwanted attention of the other siblings to myself. His gaze shifted to me before he nodded and fell back asleep on my shoulder.
"You are my moon Gaara.." I spoke in a hushed voice to myself. He was asleep but muttered something out under his breath.
".. And you are my star.."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morning:I woke up to a barely lit sky and Baki yelling at us all to wake up and get something to eat before we hit the road again. We still had a days worth of walking to do which I thoroughly hated the idea of, as did everyone else. Heck, even Baki looked tired and frustrated at the day ahead of us, but none of us had a choice. Boy do I wish we had a car..
Groggily, I sat up and softly shook Gaara awake, he scowled and sent a glare my way but it softened when I let out a small chuckle. I reached for my backpack behind myself and pulled it over my head before reaching in and grabbing a pouch of food pills. I handed two to Gaara and I put the last two in my own mouth, I didn't have any others so they would have to last the rest of the trip. Blegh they really taste disgusting though.. oh do I wish for a hot bowl or ramen right now... Oh that's right! I have yet to try the famous Ichiraku Ramen shop! And we are heading to Konoha so I can get some when we arrive! Now that's some serious motivation!
"All right let's head out! We can make it by lunch if we are quick enough! .. ramen.. ramen.. here I come!" I blatantly said whilst dancing around on the spot and helping Baki pack up his tent and the others with all their stuff.
"Wonder where all that energy came from..?" Temari quietly contemplated with Kankuro agreeing and saying something about how I was right and that Ramen did sound really good right now. Of course I was right! Ohh I can't wait to have some of that mouth watering broth! Oh and the perfectly crafted noodles! Oh I just can't wait!
The rest of the trip was uneventful, well other then my sudden burst of energy that lasted most of the trip. Honestly they call them ninja? They're so slow! We arrived at about 4 in the afternoon! And my stomach was rumbling. But as soon as the gates came into view I grabbed Gaaras arm and bolted inside, the gate guards, Izumi and Kōtetsu, jumped to their feet in surprise but saw nothing but two blurs as I ran past. Gaara was practically dragging behind me and everyone was giving us confused and suspicious looks as I zoomed by but they did stand out of the way.
Now to find Ichiraku! Oh I'm sure I can find it! That delicious smell of ramen is already wafting through the air so all I had to do was follow it towards the ramen restaurant. As I entered drool ran down my mouth but I took a seat before looking at my hand on Gaaras arm and released it. He had been scraped and become dirty whilst I brought him here.
Scratching the back of my head I apologised and took a menu then passed it onto Gaara. "I'd like one Miso Pork ramen bowl please!" I exclaimed only to be echoed by a certain Blonde.
ITS REALLY NARUTO!!
