Lonely Desert

The first exam

Y/ns POV:

Upon arriving back I was exhausted, Gaara wasn't back yet and the others were in their specified rooms doing whatever, I didn't really care and walked to my own room before crashing onto the bed. I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow, out like a log.

Day of the first exam

I woke up extra early so I would have enough time to prepare for the first part of the Chunin exam, we wouldn't be attacking Konoha until the last exam. That's also when I wrote tomorrow will kill the third her cargo.

I also hadn't seen Sasuke at all since that night, he was probably training in his compounds training grounds. Bet I crushed his ego too, awesome.

Whilst walking to the academy where the first exam was taking place, there were a lot of people staring at Gaara with wide eyes. Eyes full of fear and hatred... Speaking of which, Gaara had his emo boi facade up and glared at everyone who dared to look his way, so moody.

After reaching the school, Temari used her chakra sensing skills to pinpoint the exact location of where all the other competitors were, room 301 was where we were meant to be going according to the list of instructions we were given.

"Hey guys hold up, there are two groups of people, one on the second floor and one on the third.. there must be some sort of diversion to pick of the weak competitors." Temari said to the group. It's good that she was able to identify the 'diversion' and tell us where we were meant to go. I wasn't the best at chakra identifying, so I would just ask Suzuki, should the need arise.

The squad agreed with her and we began walking into the building. I almost couldn't hide my excitement, I WAS IN NARUTOS PRIMARY SCHOOL! This is so cool!

Suddenly my body felt heavy and I glanced over at Gaara who was slowly turning into sand, before I looked at my own body and noticed mine was doing the same. Thank Kami for Gaaras sand abilities. Sending a smirk in the direction of Kankuro and Temari I continued to disappear.

"HEY Y/N THATS NOT FAIR!!" Kankuro pouted before I felt myself being dragged into another place, and dayum this felt weird. After disappearing, my body began forming besides Gaara in a room FULL of intimidating genin, or at least to anyone who hadn't met Gaara. Gaara was still the most threatening so everyone steered clear of him, whilst teasing the weaker and smaller genin.

After about 20 minutes of waiting, the main character himself entered the room, with a massive grin on his face. Sakura seemed to be shaking in her boots and Sasuke was pretending to be emo and edgy, key word pretending. Naruto began shouting at all the competitors saying how he was going to be hokage some day and that he could beat every last one of them, which earned a lot of glares from the rest of the genin.

Before Naruto and the rest of his team could get pounded into the lower floor, Kabuto walked over to team 7, and now, team 10 and 8 who had gathered around them. Kabuto then began to tell them about his special ninja info cards, which interested the nine rookies, and myself as I need to know absolutely everything about my opponents. I know more than everyone else, but even that knowledge is not enough. I bet that even Orochimaru would love to get his slimy hands on what I know.

Kabuto continued to answer questions of the rookies, which I tuned out a bit before it came to the part I really wanted to hear. "Of those cards, are there ones with detailed individual information?" Sasuke asked bluntly, this made Kabuto smirk and push his glasses up his nose.  

"Yes there is, Anyone you had in mind?" Kabuto snickered.

"Yeah, three actually." Sasuke slyly replied. I was now keeping a close ear on the conversation whilst attempting to drown out every other sound around me, including Kankuro and Temari who showed up a few minutes ago. "Their names are, Gaara of the Sand, and Rock Lee of the leaf.... Oh and also Y/N L/N also from the sand." Sasuke mumbled, glaring at the card on the ground, whilst Kabuto shuffled his deck to find the right ones.

'Why would The Almighty Uchiha, want to know about me?' I thought to myself in confusion. Kabuto then proceeded to pull out three cards from his deck which led to Sasuke asking to see them, whilst Naruto and Sakura looked over his shoulder in awe and interest.

"First up, genin Rock Lee from the leaf. He is one year older than you guys, his mission experience is 11 C ranks and 20 D ranks. His squad leader is Guy and in just a year, his Taijutsu skills have drastically improved but... His other skills are not good at all. Last year, he attracted attention as the Genin rookie for his ability, but he didn't to participate in the training exams. This is his first time taking in the exam, same as you guys. TenTen and Neji Hyuga are on his team." Hinatas eyes widened in shock that her cousin was also participating in the exams.

"Huh? Hyuga?" Naruto added quietly. Kabuto then reached for then second blank card and infused his chakra into it.

"Next up is, Gaara of the sand. His mission experience, 8 C ranks, b ranks... Wow 1 B rank as a genin, eh? He's a Shinobi from a different land and is a rookie, so there's no further details, but... It seems he has returned from all of the missions uninjured" Kabuto said, getting more interested as he continued talking, a bead of sweat dripping down his forehead. Everyone looked nervous and I smirked to myself at their responses. They looked bewildered that Gaara had come back unscathed from every mission. I went on that b rank mission with him, although I did get injured somewhat but healed quickly due to Suzuki.

"B rank as a genin....? But uninjured?" Skikamaru added, Naruto then muttered something I couldn't hear and Sasuke was glaring at the ground.

"So.... Y/N L/N huh? I know for a fact that I don't have much on her but let's see what we have here...." Kabuto matter-of-factly stated as he grabbed the last blank card he had taken earlier. "Ah here we are! As I said, I don't have much on her, only that she's on Gaaras team so has done the same amount of missions and is the same age as Gaara. Ooooh how interesting.... Says here that she also murdered her parents, makes sense that she's friends with our Gaara over here..." Kabuto explained with a smug look on his face, and exchanged glances with each of the rookies. The air was so thick with tension and fear I could cut it with a Kunai. Naruto turned to look at me and I stared right back at him causing his eyes to widen and look away quickly. Good, now I have a few new genin brats to be scared of me. Naruto then turned his back to me and began to converse with his friends again.

"I don't see how she could be friends with him, but after hearing that she k-killed her own parents? She must be just like him." Naruto muttered to the group.

I wish everyone could see the other side of Gaara, I don't care what they think of me, but they should give him a chance.

So sorry for such slow updates, I haven't been doing very wel, mentally and it's just got worse, so anyways I'll probably not write for a while now, school also starts back next week. If you're lucky y'all might get one before then. Anyway have a great day everyone!
