A/N: This hasn’t actually happened in Popular at the time I’ll upload this chapter but this is basically how Popular’s gonna end. So spoiler ahead if you’re reading that story at the time this chapter will first come out and another heads-up is that I’m gonna switch to the third instead of second point of view for this book. You’re also free to just skip this chapter and jump straight over into the next one.

It was finally Spring break as well as the end of the academic year in Japan. To say [First Name] passed with average scores in her final exams would be a bit of an overstatement. She simply passed and was lucky enough to have even passed, unless she wasn’t and her suspicion was right about Coach Murata being the one behind those barely passable grades of hers. After all, she couldn’t really afford one of her star players to have to retake exams now, could she?
So many things had happened that year to the point one could even go as far as to say it was almost impossible for [First Name] to catch up with her studies anymore. Not even weeks of tutoring sessions from Kita seemed to help. She still did so bad in her exams the only thing she could feel happy about everytime she was reminded of it was the possibility of being placed into the same class as Atsumu this year. That was how she realized how helpless she really was.
“It’s finally that time of the year, huh?” [First Name]'s father, Enji, said one dinner, somewhere in the middle of the Spring break. “Let’s visit the Kageyamas this year. You have until Saturday to pack your things up.” Great, [First Name] thought, truly wishing she didn’t have to but unable to do anything besides rolling her eyes sassily in response, considering her mouth was still too busy chewing. Here comes the annual Spring vacation, I guess. “All of them.” Wait. . . what?
“Hold up, what?” Screw manners. At that point, she couldn’t help but ask, even with a mouth full of food. It did sound a little disgusting, though. So, grabbing her glass of water, she chugged some water down from it to help. Thus, she quickly swallowed everything she had in her mouth now that she’d gotten the help she needed to make it possible without having to chew any further before continuing, “What do you mean? Aren’t we just going to have a Spring vacation?”
“We’ll be living in Miyagi this year. We’ll be staying at the Kageyama’s until we finally find a better place to live in than that. . . claustrophobia-inducing junk we usually stay at during our visits to Miyagi.” Enji answered. “Oh and we leave on Sunday.”
Is he serious? He can’t be, can he? [First Name] thought with her mouth wide open in disbelief of what she was hearing right now. She couldn’t possibly leave everything behind just like that. Things were different from when she was just a timid little girl in Tokyo. She had nothing then. She had nothing but her brother and his friends. But she had a life now.
She had friends, a team and a boyfriend in Hyougou. She’d never be happy again without Atsumu, nor would she ever play volleyball again without Juri. Just thinking about a life without them made her anxiety rise, so she shut both her mouth and eyes closed while taking a deep breath in her attempt to calm herself down. This must’ve been some kind of joke and she was going to treat it as one.
“First of all, it’s a summer cabin. It’s a summer house and a lake cabin. It was never designed to be a permanent residence in the first place. Second of all, why?”
“I have a project to finish there.” Enji answered shortly.
“You mean Bonanza City? Isn’t Uncle Mirio managing it?”
“Yes. But it’ll be finished this year and I’ll have to be there for the opening gala.”
“Well, that’s your business, isn’t it? Why do Shouto and I have to be there, too?”
“[First Name].” Her brother, Shouto, who sat before her, finally opened his mouth to warn her. But she couldn’t seem to care less. She wasn’t going to go down without a fight. Not when her life in Hyougou was at risk.
“Shouto, did you know about this?” She asked, shooting Shouto a glare that as if saying “side with me or die.”
No answer. Hah. My threatening look must’ve scared him shitless. Seriously, what do I do with you, Shouto? I’d apologize if you weren’t siding with dad, you damn traitor.
“Enough questions, little girl.” Enji said while dabbing a napkin on his face, seemingly done with his dinner.
Completely ignoring his order, she asked instead, “It’s because of the Sinister Spiders, isn’t it?”
Again, no answer.
“I guess it is.” She snickered. “You know it wasn’t our fault, right, dad?!” She’d raised her voice before even realizing she’d done it. “It was —”
“[First Name]!” Shouto repeated his warning, firmer this time. “He knows, okay? He knows. Besides, it’s just for a year, right, dad? We can go back to Hyougou next year, yeah?”
“Yes.” Enji stood up from his seat, looking very eager to leave and as if holding back some tears at the same time. “Of course.”
[First Name] couldn’t believe any of the things she was hearing right now. A year, huh? We’ll see about that, dad. She’d make sure to make that a month. A week, if possible. But, first, she needed to think of a plan and what to tell her friends for now. So she mirrored her father’s action and stormed out of the room before he could first, dramatically screaming, “Ugh, whatever!”
