ℐt was market day, and standing beside his cart, Hongjoong was selling his flowers to the Elves in his town in exchange for grain, vegetables and fruit. But despite his smiles and chattery façade, he felt remarkably unsettled.

There seemed to be something different about the markets today. And that was if you ignored the unusual military presence. People seemed on edge, and while market day was usually a social event, today, Elves appeared to be coming to buy their necessities, and then returning home immediately, refraining from lingering...

Which meant that compared to usual, he wasn't selling as much. It was unsettling to be faced with the prospect that perhaps he would not be able to sell enough to make it through the week.

'Oh, I'm sorry!' he said lightly. 'Our village does not use currency... You must be from the North~'

The Elf nodded, swallowing uncomfortably like he hadn't realised their town did not exchange money. 'Ah... I see...' Shuffling through his pockets, he pulled out a small bread roll. 'Will this suffice?'

No... ' Of course~' he decided to say, just to get him to leave quicker.

'You mustn't have had many people come by today,' said the Elf in a way that sounded half interrogative, passing him the bread before looking at his cart.

Nodding, he glanced down at the bread in his hands. 'Indeed...'

'Please excuse me if this is rude, but... You seem quite uneasy... Anxious?' the Elf asked suspiciously, and he just knew the stranger suspected that perhaps, he had realised they were not who they intended to appear as...
