"How did you get here? Where are Freya and Davina?" Hope asked one question after the other."Oh yes, your aunts. We made sure they had something to do so they wouldn't see us break into the school"
"What do you mean by that?" Hope asked, her voice full of anguish.
"Oh, don't worry, they're all right... For now," the witch replied threateningly.
Hearing that her aunts were fine helped Hope calm down a little, however, her patience was beginning to run out "and what do you want? No, seriously. We did everything you asked for. We went to the prison world with that maniac Kai and found out that all this time his plan was to get revenge on Alaric, which he accomplished, judging by the fact that we haven't heard anything from him since he destroyed the prison world while Alaric was still there," Hope said spitting out the words. She didn't have a chance to process what she just said, she still couldn't believe that after all they had been through, they still had to deal with this.
"We know Kai is on the loose, that's why we're here. Your pathetic little group couldn't hold him back even for a day. We didn't think you'd be so useless," The witch commented dismissively, seeming to be just as fed up as Hope.
As much as Hope didn't understand how the witches found out about Kai's sudden freedom, and as annoying as the woman's words were, Hope felt this was a good sign, after all the coven was here to take the matter into their own hands "Well if we're so useless why don't you go and take care of Kai yourself. He must be out there somewhere. Just prowl around the forest for a while and see what you find. Now if you'll excuse me, my best friend, who happened to lose her father recently, needs me"
Just as Hope took the first step in order to go back to the twins, one of the witch's minions grabbed her by the shoulders to stop her.
"Not so fast. We have to make sure that you and your little friends don't get in the way of our plan to catch Kai"
"Believe me, we won't," Hope scoffed. Jerking away from the hand that was holding her back.
"I have to guarantee that. A cautious woman is worth two," the witch smiled. She opened her mouth to say something else, but a foreign voice stopped her.
"Hope? is everything all right?" It was Josie. Hope noticed how her gaze changed from one of concern to one of confusion "What are you doing here?" Josie said, looking directly at the witch.
"We came to do what you couldn't. Now tell me, where is your uncle?"
"I don't know"
"See? useless." This time, the witch directed her words to Hope.
"If you want Kai so much, why don't you go find him yourself," Josie added. Hope was amused to see that Josie was as jaded as she was. A small smirk adorned her face.
"That's where we were before your interruption. Now, as I was saying... " The witch stopped her speech for a moment to sit in one of the chairs of the living room, "We have to make sure you don't do anything that could prevent us from capturing Kai"
"We won't, we really don't want to get involved with all this" Josie cut off the woman's words again. Almost repeating what Hope had said.
"I don't believe you. I think as soon as we walk out that door, you're going to go looking for your Uncle to keep us from hurting him"
"Why would I do that? He just got rid of my dad," Josie said, her voice barely a whisper.
"I don't know, and I don't care. I just don't trust you. None of you"
