Upon entering the kitchen, Lizzie noticed that it was empty. Empty, as everything had been for the past few days. Everything except her connection with Josie. That connection was becoming suffocating. Lizzie could feel a commanding attraction from Josie, an immeasurable power, but she decided to put it aside, after all, what Josie needed right now was a glass of water.
Lizzie poured the water and headed for the bedroom. Once she was behind the door, she couldn't help but overhear the conversation between Hope and her sister. Josie sounded terrified and Hope was doing her best to calm her down. Lizzie knew that if anyone had the power to tranquilize her, it was Hope, it had always been Hope.
The idea that between Josie and Hope there was anything more than friendship was not to Lizzie's liking, she had made that clear on more than one occasion. She would like to say that this was because she didn't think Hope was good enough for Josie or that such a relationship would only bring trouble for her sister, but the truth was that Lizzie didn't want to lose them. If Hope and Josie became more than just friends, it would mean they would spend more time together and less time with her. Her two best friends would abandon her to ride off into the sunset together or whatever. She didn't want that. A not-so-small part of her, however, knew that there were no two other people more deserving of being in love. Hope and Josie were meant to be.
These thoughts flooded Lizzie's mind so that by the time she came back to reality, the voices on the other side of the room had stopped. Perhaps Josie had fallen asleep again. Before Lizzie could enter the room to confirm her suspicions, Hope came running out of the bedroom.
"Hey, what's wrong? I got the water," Lizzie said in confusion.
"Believe me, we're going to need more than water," Hope replied as she pulled her by the arm to lead her into the room closest to them. Once inside, Hope began to explain, "Josie is no longer our Josie"
"What are you talking about?"
"While I was in there with her, we were talking, and then... "Hope was thoughtful and silent for a long time, and for a moment, Lizzie thought she saw a small smile on her face.
"And then what happened, Mikaelson?" Lizzie insisted, desperate.
"Oh, yes, then I got closer"
"You got closer? What do you mean, you got closer?"
"The details are not relevant at the moment, what matters is that I was close enough to see Josie's eyes. They changed, they turned completely black, and then she passed out again. I think she's still sleeping"
"Are you sure about what you saw?"
"I'm sure" Hope reaffirmed
"Then we ran out of time"
Just as Lizzie finished saying those words. The bedroom door opened, revealing Josie. She looked the same as always, but something was different.
"Were you talking about me?" Josie said in a questioning tone. Something had certainly changed. This Josie was imposing.
