.The Inception.
The year 2017, I met the most amazing woman alive. We met in the Vaal, she and her then-partner we launching monologue photo series.
She was one of the photographers, and I was a muse. I was a muse.
By the end of the event, I hadn't gone home. It was my first visit there and I was captured. I didn't want to leave the place anymore, I couldn't. I traveled in three taxis from Soweto on a random Saturday afternoon to go to a place I had never been before, to go meet people I have never met before. Fast forward to the part where I and the woman started dating a month after our meeting and were staying together 3 months into our relationship.
When Dawn met me she said "I need to talk to you about the spirit world. There is something there I can't put my finger on it, but kunamadlozi ngaphakathi..."
Me: uhmm ama dlozi? No babe, all I know about amadlozi is that they are demons. That's what my grandma taught me.
My girlfriend and I were growing in love here, it was amazing. She taught me about matla a Thapelo, le ho phahla ho bitsa badimo bahao le mangeloi. whwen me and her got together she was three years overdue ephehlweni and that's the one constant thing we would talk about. The root of most our fights was that, her calling. She planned the trip with me because she had explained to me of how unsupportive her family would be ka leeto la have, so I was there for that to be her backbone when she needed. Badimo bahae used me for that.
May of the year 2018, she decided she was going in. All alone she was putting her job on hold to go and thwasa and hopefully come back to the same job and come back to me, I was prepared to wait. I was in love and in amazement and awe of this beautiful young womans bravery, I didn't understand why she would want to go do that to herself.
On the night when she was going to start, she organized transport to move her things from the place we stayed in together to Pretoria where she would be going through her thwaso. Kwaphahlwa wangena, and I was by her side for this.
