"Calm down, I got this!!!"

Two skeleton archers were immediately taken down after hacking its skulls with his halberd. It was both sharp and heavy, easily crushing the monsters with his deadly strike. "It'll be quick!!!Hehehehe", completely disregarding his companion, Ruiz entered the monsters' fray, the job at hand was obviously toss aside.

Meanwhile the unlikely duo of a timid Siam and a stoic raider stared at the 12 feet tall statue of a winged-lion, in it's mouth lies the spawning device. They were supposed to finished the job swiftly, however, it seems that a group had arrived before them. Although they expected a hindrance, they had not expected it to be their own men who would attacked them.
Below the menacing stone statue were  three holy knights and four raiders, two mages and a pair of shamans, all looking at them with dazed look.

"We are a bit late, aren't we?", Hurial scratch his head in annoyance, they really should have rushed over like those two. Looking at his own men with slight disappointment, it seems that his groups' standard had dwindled over the years. How weak were their mental fortitude to quickly succumbed to hypnosis.

Hurial rushed towards the mages at the back, hitting their necks with the back of his dagger. The two fell, deterring the possible damage the mages could incur. The shamans launch an counter, chanting plant based spells to trap the rouge. Hurial  easily dodges them, stabbing the male shaman in his vitals while throwing a sleeping smoke bomb towards the female shaman who has lost control. The knights could not react in time, losing all of their support.

"Is it ok to attack them? They're your men right?", Siam remains hesitant, those people were under some sort of mental attack, a monster who could cast powerful mental spell should be hiding near them. "Its fine. I'll deal with them. You should dismantle the device as planned", despite the possible injury his own men might receive, Hurial still prioritizes the plan before his group's members. He was quite indefferent, however it was precisely this attitude of his that most nobles wanted with hiring his group for important raids. He has high efficiency rate.

Siam went past them, reaching the statue's head in no time. To his surprise, no others traps were laid in the statue. "I hope a single spell would be enough to dismantle this", Siam murmured, throwing an old dagger towards the device. The dagger crashed on an invisible shield, burning the dagger into ashes.

Huge vines began sprouting on the walls, destroying a part of it. The vines grow, covering the device till it crushes it, the woody vines made screeching sounds. The shield forms cracks from the spell's force. The devices glows in resistance, its shield began repairing itself. "Are you kidding me?!", Siam groans in frustration. No wonder a high spell was needed, this thing will repair itself faster that it can be destroyed.

"Focus on the spell, I will try to destroy the device directly", Hurial spoke behind him, proceeding on assisting him. The hypnotized group all lay on the ground, together with a skeleton wearing a black wizard's robes, pieces of its bones scattered everywhere.

"I'll rupture it from the inside", unexpectedly, a pure close combat rouge like him was capable of casting spells, albeit a little inferior to the ones the mages can cast. Unfortunately, the moment Hurial touches the device, the statue, which was supposed to be stationary, moves its eyes, staring directly at the two.

Siam dodges the winged-lion's tail, barely escaping a fatal blow. Opposite him was Hurial, who also managed to avoid the tail's attacked, but was caught in the lion's swift paw, flinging onto the temple's ceiling.

Cough .......

Spitting blood from his broken jaw, Hurial endures the pain from the impact. "That priest did not mention it could move. A little warning could have help", the raider remarks as he drank a bottle of potion, his body hanging in an awkward position.

Seeing no more threats, the statue resumes its position, eyes locking on Siam who is near it. "I think we shouldn't touch it directly", the half elf noted, distancing himself from the statue. "Can you cast it from a far?", the raider jumps near him, frowning due to pain. The potion can heal broken bones, but the pain does not go away.

"Not that far, otherwise the spell won't be effective", Siam could sense a dreadful aura from the statue. "We should someone who could barrier with us", the rouge click his tounge, there were a bunch of them who were plenty useful amongst the other clerics who joined this raid.

This time, Siam casted a high tier  spell, summoning a large oak tree, which branch off into multiple areas around the statue. It coiled around the lion's neck and its legs, tangling all over the statue like a snake encircling its victim. The shield was the first one to brake, leaving the glowing device unguarded.

As if on cue, the lion rolled its eyes towards the device, before it began to struggle against the tree branches that is crushing it. Eyes turning red, the lion tore off the branches into shreds, clawing the ever growing tree from its legs.

"Don't struggle!!"

The annoyed raider blasted off the lion's eyes, blinding it. The statue continued it's resistance in vain; the device inadvertently succumbed under the tree's heavy pressure.

"Its not repairing itself. Just hit it with a light spell, I'll cover you"

Siam immediately casted a spell, two glowing humanoid sprites hovered over the device. Green lights scattered all over the statue's face; the sprites giggles as it shatters the mechanical device, breaking it completely.

Clank.....

Metallic pieces fell, as the mysterious device was crushed and hang uselessly on the broken statue. "Replenish your mana", Hurial advice the slumped porter, the spell had exhausted half of his mana pool. Its was a feat for such a young age. Even a veteran mage would faint from using consecutive high level magic.

To think that he was hiding by working as a porter,Hurial thought. People who do this usually have hidden agendas. Anyway, as long as it doesn't affect him nor his work, he doesn't mind overlooking it. Its none of his business.

"Hope the other team don't mess up"

Shooting off a blue flare, the first statue's disarming concluded.
