Why is it you?

"Hang in there"

As if a mantra, that voice keep on ringing in his head. Comforting words, offering him peace whenever he feels like losing his self. In his endless nightmare, that sole voice would save him.

"Would you die just like that?"

As though questioning his existence, Michael began to ponder. Will he just die like this? Why? For whom he fight? His body aches. His minds aches. His whole being hurts for known reason. Yet he wanted to continue. Like a miracle, Michael woke up.

White ceilings greeted his sight. Warm breeze gently hit his checks. Morning sunrise could be seen from an open window beside the bed. A man clad in a clergy robes slumped awkwardly in a small chair.

He faintly remembered this person. This is the same shady cleric who hired his party. Like how he expected, he acted like one of those scheming nobles. Though he ignored it, he still hated this priest. Back in the tower, he still acted the same, hiding behind people, using them as shield. Though he felt that something has changed, he hadn't notice it. He simply had no interest towards another person aside from Alice.

Gnashing his teeth, Michael was yet again plague by his depressing thoughts. Yes. His body aches and so his heart.

"Ah, you're awake!!!"
"Yeah, Liira is worried!!"

Suddenly, two young girls exclaimed. Their round eyes shone in glee. Michael was taken a back, his body seething with pure pain as his wounded back hit the walls.

Julius was of course, awoken from the two's commotion. The twins jump right into him, craddling his laps.

"Wake up!!The mister is already awake!",Miira promptly inform him, shaking the drowsy Julius off the chair.

"Ok, stop shaking me. My head is already spinning. You guys go eat your breakfast first", persuading the two, the twins obediently ran back, their laughter could be here from the hallway.

Now, turning his attention on the recently conscious patient, Julius was lost for words. Yes. He did remember tending to this guy's wounds even though he did not know his identity. He was deprived of his sleep and he even had to sneak like a damn robber nightly from the church back to his villa just to avoid suspicion.Yet this ungrateful guy here is glaring at him as though he was his assailant or something.

Damn. Give me back my rest. Mentally cursing, Julius straighten his back. "If you are confused, then please be informed that I do not held any malicious intentions towards you. If I did, you won't be sleeping in a comfortable bed, so stop glaring at me. First of, you are in my home's private clinic. Second, I am your benefactor.Lastly, I may not know who you are, but I am sure you are quite aware that you were cursed, so basically I am hiding you. I am not asking you for anything in return, the least you could do is to stop that rude manner of yours.",

Sighing, Julius explained, occasionally checking the stranger's reaction. Seems like he actually got through him, since the stranger immediately retracted his glare.

"Who....w..where did you found me"in an extremly course voice, Michael managed to ask him. The question he wanted to know since gaining conciousness.

"The twins found you. In a secluded swamp. Then they dragged me there. You should be thankful of those two, otherwise you'd be another corpse fertilizing the monster plants of the tower",the priest responded.

"Why, you could have left me there?"

Michael is sincerely confused. The church prohibits the victims of curse to step inside, even in town. Just the mere mention of it could earn anyone the hatred of the church. So why is a priest, of all people, would help him?

"That is because I don't want to make those twins sad. So I helped out. "as if reading his mind, Julius answered him, clearing his doubts.

"If you have nowhere to go, then feel free to stay here, just rest until you completely healed. Also, you don't have to worry aout your voice.I think it is damage, but not to an irredeemable extent. It will heal in a month or two, so just be patient.", without waiting for his response, Julius left, leaving Michael on his own.
