Five

Vi came back a few minutes later and went to talk to power on her bed. I didn't want to be nosey and listen so I picked at my nails and bit the inside of my lip. I didn't have a good feeling about this whole enforcer problem, it wouldn't end well and I was scared.

Vi left again, and I didn't know why. I followed her. She was going to Benzo's and again, I wasn't sure why. But then it hit me, why she talked with Powder, gave her the bunny, she was going to hand herself in. She wasn't even going to say goodbye.

When I walked in she expected me to be an enforcer and stood up. She looked at me with wide eyes. "Violet what the hell are you doing." "Iris I-" "No Vi, that's not fair. You can't leave, you cant get sent to prison. You weren't even going to say goodbye." Vi looked ashamed of herself, she should be though. I don't know what she was thinking.

"You have to leave, Iris." "No." "They will be here soon, you have to go!" Her voice was shaky,  eyes watery. She sounded scared. "I'm not leaving you Violet. If you go, I go." I could hear foot steps. She picked me up. "Vi! Vi stop what are you doing!" She opened a door and shoved me into it. The basement, just where I wanted to be, thanks Vi.

Tears ran down my face, I didn't know what to do. I was stuck. I heard foot steps from outside. This was really happening. I was banging on the door and yelling, anything to grab their attention. I heard the door open and there was chatter. They were speaking to Vi.

"I'm proud of you, always have been." It was Vander. "I'm sorry, this is the only way to protect the others." Another man was there as he alarmed Vander people were coming, it was Benzo. "You've got a good heart. Don't ever loose it. No matter how hard the world tries to break you. Protect the family." Vi tried to protest. "Wait what-"

 The door open so I tired to get through, but was pushed back down by Vi's body. "What the hell is happening!" Anger laced in my voice. "No, no no no. I was supposed to go, not him."  Vi cried. I took her head into my hands, she calmed down and started to sniffle.

Vi and I started banging on the door, hoping someone would open it. I could still here them talking but then I heard the door close.

Vi and I ran over to the window. The window turned red, stained with blood, the blood of an enforcer. "Vi.. What's going on?" I cried. "It's okay, it's okay." She pulled me into her chest as I cried. Just then another happened, and another. "No!" "What's happening?" I tried to move but she didn't budge, but then she fell and screamed.

I looked out the window to see two bodies. An enforcer and Benzo. I looked to the side and saw a body being dragged away, it was Vander.

Benzo was dead and I don't know if the same happened to Vander. My heart was heavy and my eyes burned. I sat and cried next to Vi, she buried my head in her chest and my arms were wrapped around her torso. She played with small strands of my hair as she let out small cries as did I.

Violet and I sat in the basement for what felt like hours. My cheeks were red with dried tears, my eyes also red. I looked up at Vi who stared at me blankly. I brushed my thumb over her cheek as she leaned into my touch.

Suddenly the door opened making the both of us jerk our heads. It was Ekko. Vi and I went over and gave him a hug as he cried. "I saw everything- Benzo- they-" "What about Vander?" I asked. "They took him." Vi and I sent each other a look. Vi spoke up. "Where? Where did they take him?"
