A couple months later

Ajay de león:

"Mum can you just send me the picture of me and-" He said and cut off the voice note whilst waiting for it to send

Right now, he was in the delivery room with Adrianna since she had gone into labour a week early. Surprisingly they had decided to get over our foolishness and come to better terms for the sake of our child. It all started when he came over to her house to help finish up the rest of the babies nursery and once he had finished setting up the cot, he found her knelt over her bed with a puddle in between her legs. Ajay tried soothing her a bit but she was adamant that they went to the hospital, and here they are now.

The two were doing a silly tiktok trend that they had seen recently and decided to try it out on their parents. They had just finished pranking Adrianna's mum and had moved onto Ajays but clearly his mum wasn't having it.

"Ajay, don't play these games with me. I'm at work and you're going to add onto my stress. Don't be silly!" His Mum said angrily

"Mum, I'm not being silly. Can you please just send me the picture of me and-" Ajay groaned before carrying on "you know what I'm talking about."

"Lord give me strength! What picture are you talking about? Have you dropped on your head? Ajay, you're going to make me cuss in a minute." Mum sighed. "Do. Not. Piss. Me. Off."

"Have you dropped on your head!" Adrianna cackled

Ajay kissed my teeth and sent his mum another message before resting the phone on his lap. Ajay drummed his fingers on his kneecaps and fiddled with his fingers impatiently. The doctors said that she wasn't fully dilated yet so she couldn't start pushing until had reached that stage yet, but that was hours ago. They decided to keep the gender of the baby a surprise until it was born because they were betting on whether it was going to be a boy or a girl. Obviously Ajay wanted it to be a boy and she wanted it to be a girl, but he didn't really mind to be very honest. As long as their child entered the world healthy and safe then everything's fine.

A couple hours later, and he was helping her into a comfortable pushing position since she was getting ready to push any minute now. He tried getting her to lie on her side, squat, kneel and we even tried semi-setting, but the midwife suggested that she got on all fours and she found it comfortable. Adrianna didn't get an epidural because she didn't want it, but now that the midwife was telling her what the pushing experience was like Ajay could see that she was on the verge of shitting herself. He rubbed her back to soothe the pain from contractions a gave her a light kiss on the cheek.

"Did you just kiss my cheek? Look at you being all cute!" She squealed

Another midwife walked in and pulled purple latex gloves on her hands. She and the other midwife suited themselves up in aprons before checking on Adrianna once again to see if she was ready to push.

"A couple more pushes and this will all be over!" He whispered in her ear as she clutched onto his hand

"1...2...3...push!" Adrianna screamed and squeezed his hand tighter which made him gnaw at his lip

A couple more pushes and screams later, the baby still hadn't come yet but the midwife's said that they could see the head, so they had gotten somewhere.

At 11:55pm on September 19th 2020, they heard a babies cry. The midwife's wrapped their little girl in a warm towel and handed her to Ajay since Adrianna was fast asleep. He cooed and awed when he felt her wrap her tiny hand around his finger. All that mattered now was keeping their little girl happy and safe. The door was pushed open, letting in a gust of bright yellow light. His mum and cousin Kaci walked in the room with balloons, gift bags and cards in their hands.
