Chatter and laughter bounced on the cafeteria walls as everyone ate their food. The nurses decided to have everyone eat together and talk among themselves.
The little'uns laughed their little hearts out and threw plastic silverware at each other. Acting as if the island was a bad dream.
Ralph chewed on his sandwich, irritation pricking him as he watch everyone having a good time. No one seemed upset. I ought to be not understanding something here..
At the same time, what are the little'uns supposed to do? They're not old enough to understand what just happened on that bloody island was wrong.
A itchy, irritating feeling coated the back of his throat as he ate his sandwich. He sat it down, clearing himself.
Looking around, he found a little water station, with water cups and everything. Next to it was Jack, Jack Merridew, the one he was with last night.
Waking up next to him felt awkward for him, but not after preforming the same act they did hours prior. Even thinking about got him a little wild up.
Taking a deep breath, he stood from his table and walked over to the water jug, and the ginger.
Ralph smiled as Jack sipped on his paper water cup. "Hey."
Nothing.
He gulped lightly as Jack blinked at him, like he was invisible or something. A sick feeling began to swallow him while.
"May I have a water cup before you?" He shifted his foot slight to the right as worry pricked at him. FIX
Jack blinked at him once more and looked away, drinking his cold water.
Ralph felt his blood every so slowly began to simmer. He shifted on his foot to block Jack's gave only for him to look at the ground.
"What's up with you?" He barely nudged his shoulder as Jack twisted from him harsh, narrowing his eyes.
"Don't touch me."
Ralph's eyes widened, a thin gloss over them. He blinked before he responding in a hush tone.
"That's not what you were saying last night- or this morning..!"
"I don't understand what you're getting at."
His pot over spilled. Biting his tongue, he wrinkled his face to block out the tears, feeling like a fool.
"Fine..! Be like that Merridew." Ralph spook loud enough to catch some eyes from the growns ups and a few little'uns.
He turned away from him, his blonde bangs swishing along. All eyes were glued on his now, no way to explain this.
Walking by a nurse without stopping, he spoke with venom.
"I want a new room, and fast."
Jack watched from the distance at the distraught blonde, still drinking from his now soggy cup. He bit his inner lip as he replayed what he heard this morning.
Clicks of high heels echoed the halls as Jack leaned against his door, his heart swooning.
As she walked past, she greeted him and told him about everyone eating in the cafeteria. Before he could tell Ralph, the nurse shooed him away like he was a puppy.
Brushing her off, he couldn't help but stay around to ease drop on her conversation with another nurse.
"I heard he was killed in his home by his own dad!"
"That's a tragedy, how come?"
"Didn't hear it from me but, he was opening about being- a homosexual."
The first nurse covered her mouth dramatically, leaning in to hear more while pressing her clipboard tightly to her chest.
"Honestly truth be told, I don't think the dad should be punished for it. That's should the punishment for them sinners."
"I agree."
