You opened the door to the rapid knocking and frowned. "Hey! What're You doing here? We were meeting you at the party." You said as you saw your friend shivering on the doorstep. You beckoned her into the warmth of the house and tried to figure out what had happened.
"The police wouldn't let me go down the road. Apparently someone had been targeting houses with Christmas parties going on. With the whole thing going on with the Avengers they don't want to risk it." Your friend huffed.
As she spoke you noticed Yelena through the kitchen window. She was standing in the back garden. She had armfuls of liquor bottles, gifts and what looked like some sort of sandwich platter wrapped in clingfilm.
"It's Christmas Eve! Who's going out crashing other people's Christmas parties?" You said quickly and looked back to your friend.
"I don't know. But all the parties in the area are being shut down just in case it's serious. Do you mind if I call a cab? My phone died." She asked. You nodded and pointed to the landline which hadn't been used for months and had a layer of dust on it.
You took a moment to hurry out to the back door and call Yelena. "Psst! What're you doing and where did you get that stuff?" You asked.
"I'm being Santa but I can't figure out who to get everything down the chimney without ruining it." Yelena said simply.
"What do you mean you're being santa?" You asked.
"I am going to peoples houses to get gifts... and food and drink that was left out." Yelena said slowly. You sighed and motioned for her to come inside.
"Yelena. You're not supposed to take stuff. Santa leaves stuff for you." You explained.
"But you said that anyone could be santa..." She trailed off and frowned.
"I didn't explain very well. Let's just hide this until my friend leaves and hopefully no one will notice." You muttered.
"I would make a good santa. No one noticed I was in the house." She said as she helped you hide her stash.
"Didn't you have one christmas?" You asked with a light laugh.
"They weren't really big on it in the red room. So this is my first." Yelena pointed out. She smiled when you nodded.
"Well. Next year. Mayb leave gifts instead of taking them." You said with a laugh that the two of you revelad in.
"I can't even get a cab down here. I'm going to have to walk to the next block. You know if the Avengers wanted a day off they should have picked a day when there isn't crime." Your friend said from the hallway.
"Ah yes. The national no crime day." Yelena said sarcastically.
"Yelena." You scolded gently and headed out to the hallway to see your friend off.
"So. Do you want to drink this or send it back? It's good stuff." Yelena asked as she held up a bottle. "Just don't tell Nat where I got it when she gets here tomorrow."
