2. Paralysed

A/N: Heya!! I am back with chapter 2 and hopefully, you'll like this too (ooh that rhymed). So go on ahead and start reading!!

Author's pov

The throne had been empty for too long. So long that the pledged-to-the-throne, prince Zane had started setting his eyes on the throne.

 Zane had everything. Wealth, reputation, talents and not to forget astoundingly good looks, after all, he was a vampire and all vampires were creatures after the gods. They were the ultimate predators and dominated most of the supernatural society. Zane belonged to the royal clan of Vampires; The Ashfords. The first Ashford had been turned by Lilith and Lucifer themselves, so they were the most powerful demons in the magical realm. Whereas the others had been turned by the minors like Satan and Levithan. But they were also very powerful. Zane was sworn to the throne and whoever sat on it and he couldn't afford to betray them even with his life. Because you see magical pledges are blood promises; you break them you die. But if he'd kill the person who sat on the throne first and make it look like an accident so that the people didn't question then he could take over the kingdom swiftly. He and the other royals had tried finding the ruler, but they never had a lead. Whoever he or she was their powers and identity had been sealed at birth. But Zane had been determined to find this person and his lust for the throne had both given him a direction as to where this person would have been. The Human world. So he set out his men to find and kill this heir. 

But Zane wasn't the only one. " Your brother has asked his men to search the mortal world, my lord. I wonder if the king and queen hid her there?" "Hmm. It is possible." Knox barely agreed with people, and it was surprising that he had agreed on something his brother had done. This was very rare. "As predictable as the king was, I had never thought of it. But well, it won't hurt us to look in the mortal world would it? Make sure you get to the heir first and kill it. And if you fail....well you know what will happen don't you ?" Knox cackled. "y-yes your highness." stammered the general. 

Kriza

Kriza. Someone was calling me. Kriza. I had to wake up. Kriza. A divine call... "Kriz!" Ari screamed my name. 

"What?" I snapped. 

"Wow, can you believe it? hey, where are you lost, girl?"

 "It's fine. I'll tell you." Vi started." we were just warning you to stay away from the edges of the woods. It is said that creatures stay in that part of the forest so yeah we'll try and avoid it. otherwise, we're gonna explore every dark corner of this forest." 

"ooooh, spooky! hehehehe" and we burst out laughing.

 I was already having fun. "let's set up our tents. It's evening and it'll be night soon."  See I'll tell you something about me. I hate doing work and especially when someone orders me to do it. I am too lazy to do anything. So I simply try and find a way to escape. "Natures call guys. Sorry, you're on your own on this one." And I simply hopped out of there. When I was back everything was set up as I  had expected. "You're back early arent you?" Vi mocked me. " Well come sit and join us we're gonna start the spooky stories."   "Sorry I lost my way," I said in a very unconvincing tone and sat next to Ari. The three of us cuddled together and sat.

"You know there's this myth I heard from my grandmother that fae once inhibited this forest? But a cruel king ordered for them all to be slaughtered. Not just the fae but all of the magical species." Vi started.

"OOOOO so are we talking fantasy now? I just love shifters they're super hot and obsessing. It's sad that I don't even know one...." Ari was lost in a thought as if she were actually counting the number of these mythical creatures she knew.

"Both of you are talking as if your one of them and you know every mythical creature." I snorted.

They shifted uncomfortably. "Well, you never know when a piece of information could save you. and Kriz? We love you no matter what even if you hate us. Whatever you choose. Whatever you become. We'll always stay your BFFs." 

" Aww, now you're gonna make me cry, guys. See I can already feel the tears in my eyes." 

"Kriz, we're serious." "And me too." With that, we cuddled together even closer. 

"Come on guys let's sleep. Tomorrow we're going canoeing!!!" and we all crept inside our sleeping bags. Under the sky of perfect midnight velvet, the stars were so brilliant that they drew the eyes heaven-bound. I was used to nights it was my favorite time of the day. Quiet, alone, and peaceful. The nights always calmed me and the darkness sheltered my tears when I cried. I was used to darkness so why did it feel unsettling now? 

I couldn't sleep so I went for a walk only to find myself lost. I tried retracing my steps but it was too dark. So I walked in a straight direction and reached the center of the forest. unable to walk any further I was about to sit on a log when I noticed something sticky and liquidy on it. I turned on my flashlight on my phone and gasped. "B-Blood?" what the heck? blood in the middle of the forest? I was scared, very scared. As I tried to get a grip of my wobbly legs I heard a faint cry. I walked further and screamed at what I saw.  Holy shit! It was a person in the middle of the woods. What made me scream was that he was bleeding terribly. A knife had been stabbed in his heart and there was no doubt that he was going to die. The worst part was that I stood standing there in extreme fear unable to even move.

It was as if my body had been paralyzed. Well hell if I had to save that person I had to move. Well hell, I just couldn't!
