Two can play that game...

I poked my head over the bed to look at him after picking myself up from the floor. He was laughing at what had just happened. Crinkles had formed beneath his eyes from the amount of laughter that was pouring out of his mouth and to stop himself he bit down on his lip which did not help level out my damn hormones. I paused my loud music that was currently blaring out of my pink speakers, don’t ask- they were a gift from my grandparents…

“Hi?” I furrowed my eyebrows at him in confusion. Macy was a few steps behind him thrusting in circles. I covered my mouth to stop giggles erupting from my lips. Luke turned around to see what had caught my attention and Macy pulled the most unnatural pose before winking at me and skipping off to her bedroom, which was adjacent to mine.

“What was she doing?” He asked, returning to his previous position of leaning against my door frame with his arms crossed.

“The more important question is what are you doing? Like, here?” I questioned him and raised my eyebrows. This earned a cute smile from him which I returned.

“I was just walking through the neighbourhood and thought I’d drop by,” He replied nonchalantly.

“How do you know where I live?” This felt like twenty questions and he sighed softly before answering yet another question from me.

“I have my ways,” He winked.

“I’m being serious Luke!” I whined.

“Ashton gave it to me.”

“What? How do you know Ashton?” I was so confused at this point as I tried to rack my brain for times when Ashton has mentioned Luke’s name. My search came up as zero.

“We hang out sometimes, play a few instruments, and listen to music. That kind of thing,” He shrugged. That is when I noticed that he looked uncomfortable leaning against the door. I didn’t want to question him any further so I decided that I was going to have a stern word with Ashton tomorrow at school.

“You can come in to my room you know Luke,” I spoke up after a few minutes of silence.

“Oh right, thanks.”

Luke made his way in to my room and awkwardly perched on the edge of my bed, gazing at the numerous posters pinned to the dark blue walls of my room. He spotted the number of concert tickets I had pinned on to my notice board and he immediately headed over in that direction.

“Whoa,” He breathed as he fingered through the various piles. Every time I went to a concert by the same artist I placed the new ticket on top of the old one and observing his reaction this was a little more than a few concerts that I’d been to.

“You’ve been to a Blink-182 concert?!” He gaped, his eyes moving between me and the ticket a few times before he came over and tackled me on to the bed. His long arms wrapped around my body and pulled me close to him. His scent radiated off of him and I didn’t mind this one bit, even if he had scared me slightly. He smelt like mint gum with a hint of lynx. He smelt extremely good, which was yet another turn on that Luke Robert Hemmings possessed.

“If I didn’t already love you before, I definitely love you now!” He exclaimed as he pulled away from our warm embrace.

“Oh…” I trailed off, lost for words.

We stared at each other for a few minutes, both of our cheeks burning red at this point. He moved backwards a few steps looking around the room for a new topic to discuss. His eyes trailed over my cluttered shelves and messy desk until they landed on my pink speakers.

“Awesome! I’ve always wanted speakers like this!” He began excitedly, running his finger over the play button. He accidentally pressed down too hard, setting off my loud music which nearly deafened both of us. He mumbled a sorry before doing exactly the same thing again.

“What, pink speakers?” I chuckled not taking him seriously. That was until I noticed the embarrassed look on his straight face. “Oh right, sorry… Err, do you have your phone with you?”

He reached into his tight jean pocket with one hand and ruffled his thick, blonde hair with the other. Out of his pocket emerged a new iPhone that looked immaculate compared to my cracked one; my parents keep on offering to pay for its repair but I keep on refusing, I need to learn to pay for things myself- especially if they are my fault. He unlocked it before sloppily chucking the phone in my direction which I luckily caught before it hit my wooden floor.

“Close,” I breathed, scrolling through his music. I had to admit the kid had good taste in music. I synced his phone up to my speakers and played ‘I miss you’ by Blink-182. He started nodding his head along and humming while I relaxed backwards on to my bed. I could feel the bed dip beside me as he sat far too close. I felt his arm brush against mine before he retreated it and slung it across his own body.

“Good choice in song by the way,” Luke muttered kindly, tapping his foot to the beat. We sat in silence for a while enjoying our shared music taste, flicking through songs and selecting which ones we both loved. We stayed like this for about half an hour before Luke’s phone buzzed signalling he had a message. He frowned as he read it and slowly got up off my bed, I reluctantly pulled myself up too watching his every move like a hawk.

“Are you alright Luke?” I asked concernedly.

“Yeah yeah, I’m fine thanks. Just a text from Michael asking me to go round and that it’s urgent.”

He quickly tapped back a reply before turning back to me and offering me an apologetic smile.

“Do you mean Michael Clifford?”

“Yeah, I don’t think there are any other Michael’s in our school,” He laughed clearly not catching on to my utter confusion. My mouth hung open slightly but I shut it before he could take any notice. “Anyway, I have to go. It was nice hanging out with you, you’re really cool. See ya soon to do some stuff for our project!”

“Bye,” I waved half-heartedly as he left my room and thudded down the carpeted stairs. My heart was beating out of my chest as I evaluated what had just gone on:

1)  I had just had an insanely good looking boy laying with me on my bed, even if it wasn’t sexually orientated

2) We both like the same music which is a God send

3) He said I was cool and that he loved me, it’s a shame he didn’t mean it literally though… Hey, I'll take what I can get!

4) He is friends with BOTH Michael and Ashton who had BOTH failed to mention this friendship to me in any shape or form considering I was one of their closest friends!

I lay down on my bed debating with myself on whether or not I should call Ashton and ask him what  the hell he thought he was doing but then I decided that two can play at that game…
