It was 2:30 PM right now, and I realized that I should probably start getting ready for the party. It had only been 24 hours since Shane told me about it, and I was already regretting saying yes.
To be honest... I have no fashion sense. But, my friend, Shelby, and my sister, Jolie, definitely do.
So... I texted them. They both said yes immediately and arrived in the span of 10 minutes.
For some reason, they both dressed as if they were going to a ball. Jolie had a sundress and sandals on while Biana sported a skirt, matching top, and ballet flats. They honestly confused me sometimes, seeing that I was simply wearing a hoodie, leggings, and sneakers.
"Okay, Biana. What do you think we can do we this monstrosity??" Jolie asked.
"I dunno..." Biana responded. "I don't very high hopes."
"I'm standing right here, you know?" I reminded them.
"We know." They both turned around as Biana started unpacking 20 dresses out of her bag like a modern-day Mary Poppins and Jolie began opening 20 different shades of eyeshadow, mascara, blush, lipstick, and a couple other products that I didn't even know existed.
After 30 minutes of consecutive fussing, ugh's, and ah's, I was ready. And I didn't know how I looked, but I sure wanted to know.
When I stepped in front of the body length mirror, I didn't recognize the girl in front of me. The had forced me into lace up golden heals and a red, off the shoulder dress that fell to my knees. My makeup consisted of simple lip gloss, mascara, and because I couldn't stop them, some blush. My honey blonde hair, which was usually sleek, was in waves that trailed down my back.
I looked pretty. I didn't see that one coming.
"Oh my. Holy sh-"
"Language." Jolie hummed, as she began clearing up the makeup.
"Thank you, guys, so freaking much. I don't know what I would have done without you."
"You would have gone to the one of the most important parties of your live looking like a piece of crap." Biana answered as she joined me next to the mirror, wrapping her arms around my shoulder and looking at the final masterpeice.
"I agree." Jolie said, squealing and spun me around in a circle because of the euphoria that built up in her.
I pulled them into a group hug, and that's when I got a text from Shane. I'm outside. Take your time :)
"I have to go. Once again, thank you so much. You're legit my fairy godmothers."
"Okay, okay, enough chit chat, Cinderella. Your pumpkin carriage is outside. Get your lazy but out there."
After one last hug, I grabbed my wallet and walked down the stairs and out the door, only to see Shane in his car.
As I stepped into the car, Shane's gaze was averted all over me, looking down to my heals to my eyes.
"You look g-g-good." He managed to squeak out.
I chuckled. "You look g-g-good too." It was too much fun to make fun of him.
But I did have to admit, he looked pretty good in his three piece and gelled hair.
"Are you ready to see rich people drinking overpriced wine?" He asked when he'd recovered.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
"Then let's hit it."
***
I was expecting boring, maybe even annoying.
But I definitely wasn't expecting poshness. Everyone looked perfect from head to toe. And, I guessed it. They were all sipping on some kind of wine. Red, white, sparkling, standard. You name it. The air was filled with some classical violin music and adults where conversing. Pretty much your standard rich dudes party.
"Shane Wilson and Sophie Foster." Shane said to the guy at the entrance.
The guy jerked his head to signal a nod and moved so that we could enter the giant hall.
"Come on Soph. I have a seat reserved for us."
He ushered me over to a seat at a rounded table. It was me, then Shane, who was sitting next to his parents who were sitting next to some people by the names of Cassius and Gisela who sat next to some guy named Keefe which led the circle back to me.
The seat began to fill themselves up and soon Cassius and Gisela sat down, followed by Keefe. I couldn't see him since he seemed to be in a heated discussion with his mother.
I couldn't help but notice how soft his hair looked. Unlike most of the people at this 'party', his hair wasn't gelled back, but it was styled in carefree way. Unique.
When the lights dimmed and someone stepped on stage, he turned around so that I could see most of him, and faced his focus to the lady on stage giving a speech.
And... if I'm going to be completly honest here, he wasn't exactly ugly. He was wearing a half-tucked black button down, and a couple of the buttons on the top were unbuttoned, revealing a small amount of his toned chest. His white-washed jeans were accompanied by black high tops.
How come he got to wear that? I was sitting here looking formal as heck while he dressed as if we about to go to bed.
After the speech, the lights undimmed, and everyone started conversing with one and another.
"My parents are making me talk to the Patel family. I'll catch up with you soon, okay?" Shane said.
"Yeah, no worries."
As I watched Shane walk towards a family, I decided to grab a drink. So, I made my way to the refreshers place, where I dispensed myself some lemonade. Just as I was walking back, I bumped against something, and the drink splattered all over me.
I looked up, only to see that blonde haired kid who was sitting next to me. What was his name? Kai or Kevan?
His eyes widened as mine became furious.
"Shoot. I'm so sorry, I didn't--" He began.
"What is wrong with you?!" I whisper-hissed.
"It was an accident, I swear." He responded.
I death glared at him as he put his arm up in surrender.
"Ugh. Thanks, dude." I grumbled.
"Here, let me get you a new drink." He offered.
Before I could refuse, he began walking towards the drinks area and began pouring another glass of lemonade.
I rolled my eyes and followed him. Not like I had much of a choice. I grabbed the glass he offered me and started to walk away until I heard him talk again. "Wait!" He said.
"What now?" I sighed.
"I didn't catch your name."
"Sophie Foster."
I HAVE THE SECOND CHAPTER IN DRAFTS. Will be posting ASAP :)
