So... this chapter's gonna be a little... crazy. Happy reading!
The rain poured down the window as I started out of it. It was 15 minutes before school would end and I was in the last period of my day.
Keefe texted me earlier and told me to meet him at his car so he could take me home since he had also brought me to school.
Once the bell rang--thank the lord--I began to walk outside.
"Hey." I greeted him as I saw him leaning against his car.
He turned to me as he tucked his phone into his pocket.
"Hey girl." He responded, smirking.
What...
I rolled my eyes as I shook my head, but the smile peaked out. "Weirdo."
"The best weirdo." He corrected as he opened the door for me.
I sighed, but a giggle still slipped out. I stepped into the already air conditioned car. He must have turned it on before I came.
He slipped into the car shortly after and we both put the seatbelts on.
About 2 minutes into the car ride, my phone rang from my backpack. I opened the front compartment and reached for it, pulling it out.
And that's when my eyes went from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds. So did my heart. And my worries.
It was Jerry Williamson. He was one of the guys on the football team. He also happened to be one of Shane's good friends.
Keefe, being on the football team and all, looked at my phone and he's eyebrows furrowed, confused as to why Jerry was calling me.
"Why's Willy calling you?" He asked.
I shrugged. "I guess we'll find out."
I hesitantly answered the phone. "Hello?"
"Sophie? I'm texting you an address, we're keeping Shane there."
"What..?"
"He's hurt. Badly. But we can't call an ambulance. I figured you'd wanna know. Also... you're the only one of us who knows what they're doing. Get here ASAP."
"Oh-oh, okay." I stuttered, hanging up and then giving Keefe the address Jerry texted me.
"What happened? What is this place?" He asked.
"I dunno. J-jerry said that Shane's h-h-hurt. C-can you take me there?" I gulped.
"Hey, calm down. Of course I can." He said, gently rubbing my shoulder as he redirected our route.
As soon as we made it there, I ran into the house, Keefe trailing right behind me.
Jerry opened the door, and led me inside.
He led me into the living room, where I saw Shane's limp body on the couch. He was shirtless and the blood seemed endless.
I exhaled and inhaled softly, but rather rapidly, and then realization set it. "You idiots, you're supposed to compress the wound."
I ran to Shane, who was surrounded by a bunch of guys on the football team. Keefe did a 'bro hug' with a few of them, but his eyes didn't leave me for a second.
From birth, I went to school with all of these guys. They were like brothers to me. But they were really stupid.
Marcos decided that the best solution to this giant bleeding gash on his stomach was a walmart brand band aid.
