This actually may be my favorite chapter yet, guysss. Happy reading :)
Sophie POV
3 days after I picked Shane up, the long weekend was over, and I drove to school with Shane. He looked at me.
"Hey Soph?" He asked.
"Hm?" I responded, looking back at him.
"Where have you been the last couple of days?" He asked. "I don't see you as much as I used to."
Fu--
"Uh... I've just been really busy on that project. Maybe--"
That was the moment my life took a turn for the worst.
My phone, which was on the space between my seat and his, rung.
And the caller ID said Chunkyhair. And the icon was a picture of Keefe and I on our last day at work, gouging on donuts.
Sh--
His expression hardened. "Pick it up." He said. "And put it on speaker."
I was terrified. What the heck was going to happen. So, I picked up, being the idiot I was.
"H-hello?" My voice wavered. My voice never wavered. What was wrong with me? I was scared of Shane?
I was scared of Shane.
"Hey Foster, you left your shirt at my place the other night. Do you want me to bring it to school?"
"W-what shirt?" I asked, pretending to be completly oblivious.
Shanes jaw clenched.
"What do you 'what shirt'? The shirt that you left at my house. Y'know, the grey one?" He said, confused as to why I was acting this way.
"I didn't leave any shirt at your house, Keefe. I was never at your house. Bye." I quickly said, hanging the call.
Shane didn't say anything for the rest of the car ride.
And then the car stopped at school.
Oh boy.
"Sophie." He said, his voice shaking with anger. "If you think that even for a second I beleived what you said, then think again."
He paused, and then continued. "Did you and Keefe--"
"No!" I said before he could say something. "No, no, no, no. It's not what you think--"
"THEN WHAT IS IT?!" He yelled.
Shane and I had gotten into a lot of fight for the past years we knew eachother, but we always made up. But none of them were at bad as this.
"We're just friends." I mumbled.
"I don't want you to be friends." Shane said.
I turned to him with disbelief in my eyes. "You don't get to decide that."
I walked out of the car without saying another word to him.
***
For the rest of the day, I ignored both Keefe and Shane until lunch. I got the food tray and sat down at a table next to Shelby and Liam. The rest of them were busy at some sort of interest meeting for sports and clubs.
That's when Christian rushed over to me. "Sophie," He said, trying to catch his breath. "Quick, come with me."
I stood up. "What happened?"
"They're fighting." He said.
"Who?" And then it clicked inside of me, almost like I knew it would happen.
