It's been two days since the incident and Jake hadn't awakened. Samantha sighed, wiping his forehead with the damped cloth, Joshua and his men had found them, just in time, to get Jake back home, where she had taken care of him and never left his side.

The door of the bedchamber creaked opened. She didn't need to turn to know who it was. "He still hasn't awakened." She mumbled.

"He will...He's just resting." Joshua sighed. "The past two weeks when you were gone, he hasn't rested."

Samantha smiled down at her husband, "I have worried him."

"It wasn't your fault and he'd be worried more when he does wakes and realized, you have been working yourself to death, you need to rest Samantha and your breakfast haven't been touched."

Samantha sighed, getting to her feet. "I'm not hungry," She rested the cloth in the partially warm water and turned to smile at Joshua. "And you need not worry, I'm fine. Have you heard any news from Ambrose?"

Joshua shook his head. "He's not talking but who ever the person is that wanted Jake dead to the point of placing a bounty hunter seems to have lost interest or is probably already out of the country."

"I never liked the man." She shivered, hugging herself. "Now I know why." Despite it all, she was glad, she didn't kill him. Taking a life had shattered her years ago, repeating such a nightmare would be disastrous. Phillipe on the other hand was insane and she wondered if she hadn't gone to the island if he would have ended up like this. She immediately dismissed the thought. He tried to take her daughter, held her captive and almost killed her. He had a choice to make things right and choose a fatal path.

"Halley's been anxious to see you and would be here in two days' time. Perhaps you'll listen to her and get some rest."

Samantha frowned, watching his retrieving figure before turning back to her husband. "You must wake before they arrived." She whispered, grabbing the bowl of warm water, and leaving the bedchamber.

Jake slowly opened his eyes, greeting the darkness in the bedchamber, that was brighten by candles, He tried to move his hand to rub at his eyes, but halted at the hinderance. Samantha's fingers grabbed his tightly, her head was pressed against the mattress as she slept soundly beside him. She looks so peaceful and.... safe. Jake smiled, reaching out to rub his knuckles against her cheek, he didn't want to wake her, but she looked like she was about to fall out the chair.

She stirred and slowly lifted her upper body off the bed, her sleepy eyes widen as they met his. Wordlessly, she flung herself in his arms, kissing him passionately.

"I missed you so much!" She grinned, pressing her forehead to his. "Don't ever scare me like that again."

"Come, now with your medical skills and my will to survive, you should have known l will never leave you." He caresses her cheek in a soothing manner that got her closing her eyes on a sighed. "You are stuck with me forever, have you forgotten?"

She shook her head and when she opened her eyes, they were filled with tears. "You are the only man in my heart Jake and the only one that have loved me so dearly. I can't bear to be separated from you."

"Don't cry my love." He cupped her cheeks and brush the tears away with his thumbs.

"You are right, there's more important things to do.........like making babies." She smiled deviously, not disclosing the excited news she has for him, and taking full advantage of his current situation, giving him a chaste kiss on the lips before travelling down chest, moving lower.

Jake started to groan. "Samantha, I—"

"Don't worry, you don't have to anything." She whispered, loud enough for him to hear.

He doesn't have to do anything but try and breathe. Jake thought, his eyes sliding close, as he surrenders to his wife's pleasures.
