The cool morning air, swept Samantha's hair in all different direction as she stood from the top of the stairs, watching as Anna latched on to Joshua's leg, her father trying desperately to pry the little girl off so that they can be on their way back to Birmingham. The tantrum Anna was causing was enough to have gotten a laughter from her under other circumstances but today was the last time they would be seen together before their departure to Spain. She would miss the little minx. A soft smile grace her lips. Where had the days gone? It felt like just yesterday she had been told about the trip to Spain. Spain, just thinking about the place got her all giddy and anxious.A scream draws her quickly out of sweet reverie, forcing her back to reality. With a sigh, Samantha rushed down the stairs. They were handling everything wrong with Anna. She may be a bit smart for them but she was still a child. "Anna" She went on her knees just steps away from the child. "Anna, you want to stay with us don't you?"
This got the little girl to lift her head, her eyes red and wet with tears. She slowly nodded. She heard David sighed restlessly beside her, clearly frustrated at his daughter's behavior. "Come,"
Anna looked at Samantha skeptically, then her hold began to loosen on Joshua's leg. "You would let me stay with Uncle Joshua?"
Samantha looked up at David, hoping he would catch on to her little trick. "Of course she would" Jennifer answered from the carriage's window. The tiny bundle in her arms. She was tired and ready to get home. They had already said their goodbyes to The Fisher's, that had last minute preparation to do before traveling and her daughter was causing chaos. It was all her husband's fault for spoiling their child.
David looked at his wife, with astonishment. Who mouthed the words 'catch her' at him. She flickered her eyes in Anna's direction, who was slowly releasing Joshua's leg to go into Samantha's outstretched arms.
"You see, your mama, has given permission for you to stay"
Anna give a tiny smile then started to run towards Samantha when her father snatched her off the ground and into his arms. "You are in so much trouble," Anna screamed then looked over her father's shoulder. Her face turning red, as new fresh tears fell off her cheeks. Jennifer waved at them from the carriage and thanking Samantha for her help. Samantha sighed, standing beside Joshua, who looked disappointed rather than glad to have his leg back.
"I wish we could have carried her" He mumbled before turning on his heel and retrieving back to the house. Samantha stayed a few seconds before returning herself. She knew how much Joshua had wanted their third child to be a girl. She caught him many times calling the unborn child, his daughter. During the birth, Halley was more worried about the child's gender because of her husband. She didn't want to disappoint him nevertheless, they love that little boy and wouldn't change a thing.
Samantha greeted Halley upstairs in the nursery room, breast feeding James while trying to fold some infant clothes. "They are finally gone, aren't they?"
Samantha nodded, then leaned against, the door frame, arms folded. "You already finished packaging?"
"Yes, since the day you told me, I have been preparing" She couldn't hold her excitement anymore. "Oh Halley I can't wait to be in Spain" She began twirling around the room as Anna usually did when Happy. "I can't believe I am going to meet the King of Spain, see all those beautiful gardens you told me so fondly about" She sighed then fell back in the huge armchair. "Thank you so much for taking me"
Halley glance at Samantha before returning to the blanket she was folding on her knee. Samantha seems genuinely happy to be traveling. It made her wondered if she had made the right decision. She shook the thought away, no time to be getting second thoughts now. She had a great feeling about this one.
