"We should get some rest and eat something." Smity tried to steady his voice and coughed as he pointed to the huge mahogany tree. "Over there." The sky was bright tonight with a full moon and twinkling stars, each of them took a seat, forming a small circle. Smity, rest his satchel on the ground and pulled out small loafs of bread, some cheese and a flask of water. Elizabeth had given him the package, for their journey and he was grateful for the little snack. He hand one of the bread for Samantha and she took it with a smile.

"Thank you, Tommy and I would share this one." Smity gulped and made the mistake of looking at the child in her lap, it cause him to choke back on tears. Tommy had been dead for the past hours. Did she not know that? He had finally succumbed to his illness and Smity was impressed that it didn't take him sooner with his previous surrounding and all. Tommy's body had always been weak, his spells were always managed by the captain and Oliver without them, Smity's fears had come through. He was a failure, he had failed Tommy and everyone else. He hung his head to the ground when Samantha started to feed the child.

Smity heard a sniff beside him and turned to Julian, the lad wasn't crying, he had no tears in his eyes, eyes that was staring at Tommy's body with sadness. "Here, y-you can give him my cheese."

Smity stared at Julian incredulously.

"Thank you Julian," She took it from him and proceeded to give Tommy, the cheese only rested between his lips.

"See, he likes it." Julian continued.

Smity gritted his teeth. If Julian didn't shut the hell up!

Surely he can see that the child is dead! Smity suddenly lost his appetite, not that he had one to begin with. He place his bread back in the satchel. Perhaps he was the one going insane? He shook his head and rub at his eyes when he opened them, Samantha was giving the child water. It trick down the side of his cheeks and Smity knew he was the sane one here.

"Sam--" Smity's voice broke off and he choke back a sob and rubbed at his forehead.

"I'll be back." Julian said softly, it took a moment for him to remove his gaze from Tommy and he got to his feet and disappeared within the trees.

"It's been hard on him, wasn't it?" Samantha sighed, running one hand through her short hair. He wanted to say that it has been harder for her but held his tongue, he didn't want to speak about what happen to her on that ship and off of it. He had heard her screams from the cottage. It was probably when she lost her hair as well and now she had lost Tommy. He knew how much she adore the child. They all did. But--Samantha, she saw him differently, it's like Tommy was her entire world.

"Indeed, for all of us." He mumbled.

"Jake's here, everything would be fine now." She reached out to pat his hand gently. Smity stare at her hand and lifted his gaze at her smiling face. He should have stayed and helped Jake fight but knew that his main task was to stay with Samantha, Julian and Tommy. Jake would find them; he wouldn't leave the island, without them. Smity sighed. Should they returned and stop this quest to find Elsa? Tommy was already dead and Samantha's wounds wasn't life threatening. She seems fine and without complaints.

"Would you let me hold him?" Smity reached for the child, only to have her holding him tightly to her chest and narrowing her eyes.

"No, I'll take care of him. You need not worry."

Snatching back his hands, he stood. "I'll go check on Julian."

"Yes." She didn't lifted her gaze as she stare at the body with love, fingers combing through Tommy's hair.
