Gabrielle was not surprised when the time for dinner neared and Lady Candace and Freya blot inside her bedchamber. A gown draped over Freya's arms which she wasted no time hanging over the armchair. Gabrielle pretended to be so engross with the book she was reading, not giving them the attention they sort. Lady Candace started clearing her throat, to which Gabrielle offered some of her water at the bedside.
"You have to get ready for dinner," Lady Candace said folding her arms. Gabrielle's only response was turning the page in her book. "Gabrielle?"
Freya crawled on the bed and pulled the book from her hand. "Freya don't do that! Give it back!" Freya replied by throwing the book on the chair, to her dismay it bounced on the edge and landed on the ground.
"Dinner Gabrielle, You are attending. Are you not?"
"No, I don't see why I should" She folded her arms and glare at Candace. "Because a certain someone invited a guest, I do not wish to see tonight"
"Why are you gloomy about the handsome gentleman?" Freya eyebrows rose, inside she was eagerly awaiting to see this gentleman that got Gabrielle scared of facing him. "The Gabrielle I have come to know never back down from a challenge."
She glared at Freya, eyes narrowed wondering if the lady had some secret magical power to read her so well. She was indeed ignoring Alejandro. There was something about him that makes her feel strange. A presence drawing her near him. It was scary and intriguing at the same time.
"What she is trying to say," Lady Candace came to sit next to her and took a curl between her fingers. "Don't fight your feelings for him." Gabrielle's eyes widen and she crawled off the bed. Her only escape was the bottom of the bed, for the sides were occupied. What sorcery was this! How could they have thought the exact, same thing as her?
She turned around, just as the entire room grew dark. A gush of wind, caused her to shiver and she frowned. "Father?" As she said the word, a form of grey air escaped her lips.
"Brielle, why don't you come home." She turned to her side and notice her father sitting there in the darkness. The cloud of fog circling him, making him even more visible. "I miss you"
Gabrielle squared her shoulders and glare at him. "You don't know when you are being ignored, do you?"
"No, what I don't like is being ignored. There is a difference." He rose from his seat and the gold chair disappeared. "I thought you were happy" She took a step back when he tried to touch her. His eyes twitched from anger to genteel in a second. "Please returned to me"
She laughed and her face settled into a grin. "Now why would I do that? I like it on land, among the living and we both know your only concern is yourself and the garments I stole from you!"
"You ungrateful child!" He raised the palm of his hand towards her. Gabrielle tried to move but couldn't. She couldn't even breathe. "You will come back to the sea, it's in your blood and I'll be waiting." He lifted her in the air, drawing her near him. Her white chemise was the only light in the darkness as it floated around her "Don't be tempted by the living, it's not worth dying for."
"Gabrielle?" It's was Freya's voice that echoed around them now. Her father pushed her backwards until he began to appear further away. How she hated the man and his way of living. Once she had enjoyed it, it was real magic. Not the sort of pulling rabbits out of a hat but her eyes were always lit with joy, she didn't know it was not normal because that was her normal.
