October 1908, Small Heath, Birmingham

At thirteen years of age, Tessa is still getting herself into all sorts of trouble. Herself and Ada couldn't be any closer than they are now, that they are older. Ada and Tessa loved to go out and cause trouble for themselves, which would include looking for boys to hang around with behind all there older brothers. Well boys for Tessa not Ada, Tessa thinks Ada is still to young to be out with boys, but Ada is fun to hang around with, as Tessa thinks that she is just as mad and crazy as she is herself, willing to do anything reckless. 

"Johnny Dog's is Tessa ready yet for the pictures?" Ada asked barging into the Dog's house sitting down on one of the kitchen chairs. Johnny got up from his seat in the front room and walked over to the bottom of the stairs shouting up to Tessa. 

"Christ Ada, your father know what your wearing to the pictures?" Johnny asked squinting his eyes talking a slug from his drink on the kitchen counter. 

"Johnny, aunt Poll is the one you should be asking, have you even seen my father since Finn was born 4 months ago, or for the matter of fact have you even seen my mother. There both like ghosts again" Ada said sighing and laying her head on the kitchen table. Johnny stroked the top of Ada's head in comfort knowing the little child is going through tough times right now.

Tessa came running down the stairs moments later with her hat in her hands "Ada lets go" Ada shot up from the chair and ran out the door to meet Tessa. Johnny went to close the door after the girls when looking down the street saw what Tessa was wearing. 

"TESSA, you come back ere right this second, look what your wearing" Johnny shouts from the front door, down the street for the whole of Watery Lane to hear. Tessa just grabbed Ada's hand and they both laughed together enjoying the moment. 

Johnny sighed closing the door and walking to the other side of the street into Polly's house. 

"Tessa, who did you get dressed up for now this time? Is it the same guy as last time, cause if it is you know Will and Edward don't like him. Remember the fight the three of them had because of you" Ada asked as they walked down the street to the pictures. 

"Ada that's the whole point of having boys around. To have fun but, also to get on your brothers nerves. You will know when your a bit older, your only eleven you won't understand"
