Håvard Haugland-Ace
The wind roared in your ears as your limp limbs swayed from side to side in the arms of the blonde man.
"Just hang on a bit longer, you're safe now." The thick nordic accent of the man carrying pierced your ears. His red jumpsuit seemed like a violent assault to your eyes, a stark contrast to the white of the snow that surrounded you, but it now felt like your saving grace.
Not even in your wildest dreams would you have thought you'd be caught in this predicament. A seemingly harmless mountain climb turned into your worst nightmare in a matter of hours.
It was quiet except for the faint sound of wind outside of your tent. The morning rays of light were just now peeking over the horizon as a new day started.
After putting on another layer of warm clothes, you unzip the tent only to be assaulted by the harsh cold. It was a particularly bad snowstorm that seemingly came in overnight. You weren't even in an area known for harsh and sudden blizzards, but of course, lady luck had forsaken you to this damned fate.
Deciding it was best to turn back and leave your camping trip a day early, you begin to pack up your things when a sudden low rumble makes your head turn. Your eyes widen as you see a massive wave of white crashing down the mountainside.
Panic began to settle in your chest as you stumbled to the ground. Either fear or sheer stupidity caused you to stay in place because when you finally started making your way down the trail it was too late.
The snow felt as if it were a bat to the head, the cold hadn't even registered, only the stinging that it brought. Buried under the snow and dazed, you try to recall the survival tips you had learned in preparation for the trip. Everything felt like it was in slow motion as you raddle around in your brain, desperate to remember anything. Composing yourself as best as possible, you recall a tip to help if you're buried under snow. You accumulate all the saliva you possibly can in your mouth and coat your tongue in it before sticking out your tongue, paying close attention to which way the spit falls.
Luckily, it falls downward, meaning you were upright and not completely fucked. Well, you kinda were, but on the positive side, you could try and dig yourself out of the personal hell you were in. Struggling to bring your hands up, or where you figured was up you began slowly chipping away at the thick snow with your freezing hands. After a few minutes of digging, your hand shoots straight through the top of the underground frozen hellscape. Realizing you broke the surface, you feel reinvigorated to survive. This feeling is only exasperated when the faint sound of a dog's bark reaches your ears. Wriggling back and forth, you attempt to get more of your upper half above ground, the fear of suffocating still lingering closely in the back of your mind.
"Hold on, I'll get you out of there." The voice of a man causes your failing consciousnesses to somewhat return. The feeling of snow shifting around you is freeing to be sure, but you could do without the sudden blindness you felt as soon as the sun's rays and the gleaming snow hit your eyes. Strong, warm arms grabbed under your armpits and sloppily hoisted you out of the hole, finally freeing you from the seventh ring of hell.
"My name is Håvard Haughland, don't worry, I'm here to save you." Your dazed gaze wanders up to his face. His pale skin and platinum blonde hair make him look like an angel as the sunlight reflects on his back and shadows his face, but gives him an almost halo effect. Your eyes flutter before you roll your head back, deciding you're too tired to keep your head up anymore. Suddenly your eyes shut, sound is muffled as you fall asleep.
The first thing you notice are soft sheets around you, too soft for a hospital. Opening your eyes, you're at first blinded by the light, but the soft glow that the cozy lap beside you casted made it an easy adjustment for your eyes. The next thing you notice was the decor. You were definitely not in a hospital. The sheets were a muted red color, with white on the other side. The dark wooden bed frame, elegant yet still rustic, was a far cry from the gray bed frame you'd see at a hospital.
Throwing the sheets over your legs, it's not until you move your legs that you realize how much pain you were in. The bed creaks as you get up on your shaky legs, limping over to the wall, you lean your weight against it in order to take weight off of your legs. Making your way to the thick wooden door, you're barely able to twist the golden handle before it creaks open, a tall pale man with striking blue eyes and platinum hair, dressed in a loose t-shirt and plaid grey pajama pants."I thought I heard something up here, I'm glad you're awake, but I'm gonna have to ask you to go back to bed." His smile was warm as he gazed down at your eyes, his innocent gaze having a slight unhinged look to them. Though the two of you were only about two inches shorter than him, the way he gazed down at you made you feel like a rabbit being stared down by a wolf. "Can you tell me where I am first? Is this some kind of alternative care center?" Your voice is shaky despite your effort to sound confident. "Something like that." The man says as he ushers you back to the warmth and comfort of the bed.
Mostly out of concern for your own safety if you don't oblige, you climb back into the bed. Standing off to the side of the bed, the man opened his mouth to speak. "My name is Håvard Haug-" "Sorry to interrupt, but aren't you the man who rescued me?" Håvard smiled to himself before answering with a curt nod. Walking towards the bed, the look on his face is one that could be best described as predatory. Even the way he walked cautiously yet with a slight edge to himself reminded you of a jungle cat stalking it's prey through the thick leaves. Making his way to your bedside, he takes a seat. "I've been watching you for quite a while, Y/N. I'm so happy I could be the one to save you, and now, we have all the time in the world to get to know each other." He gives another close eyed smile at the end before getting up and walking out of the room, while you are left too stunned to speak.
AN:So sorry, this story is really short, i'm trying to get back into writing again so i'll probably post more short stories like this. Hopefully it won't take me quite as long though.
