("I beseech you lifeform, no I beg that I bond with you.") Taiyo held his head down.
("Bond? Look pal I'm not doing that.")
("Me bonding with you means I will remain inside your body to recharge my energy. And when you are in a pinch you touch the bottom of this device, raise it up, and you put it near your chest, then I appear.")
("No! If you can supposedly help me in a pinch, why is my friend dead?")
("I....I.")
("He put faith in you, and do you know where that got him? That thing's stomach! I have a family and I don't want them in danger because of you.")
("Look what if I go in the device and stay there until I get my energy back?")
("Fine, that could work, go ahead I'll put it in my attic.")
Hank had that moment play back in his head a thousand times. The more he thought about it, the more weird it was to him.
("Why did I let that...that creature get inside this thing?") Hank looked back at the device. It had a wooden frame with a plastic red dot in the middle of it. The grooves of the wood were lined with metal. "What matters is my family now", said Hank to himself driving home. He drove back and entered the home looking for his family. He heard noises of pillows being put together coming from the kitchen. He put his jacket on the coat hanger and walked in. He saw his wife building a pillow fort with his daughter.
"Daddy you're home", said the child. He hugged her, but he looked at his wife with a pained expression.
"Why don't you go upstairs sweetie", said his wife. The daughter nodded and went upstairs. "Honey, what's bothering you?"
Hank took in a huge breath and said, "Peter is...he is gone." His wife hugged him.
"It's okay we'll get through this right?"
36 years had gone by like clockwork. The age of exploration had continued into a new millennium of technology. This new technology could fix injuries, financial problems, education accessibility, etc. ("Can't fix marriage though can it?"), thought Hank to himself. He got up and got ready. He was 62 but still able to function well enough to live alone. The other side of his bed was empty, and in a postcard his daughter sent him there was a coworker standing next to his wife, well ex-wife. ("I'm sorry I failed you Clara my love, and Jessica you've grown up so fast.") He thought to himself for a long time before having an idea. He went to his phone and texted someone. The text read: "Grandson, are you able to visit?"
He waited for 6 minutes when he got a text back saying: "Sure I'll be right over?"
Soon Hank heard a knocking at his door. He opened it to see his grandson. His grandson was 5ft 11, blonde, had blue eyes, with some baggy pants and a rock shirt. His hair was little messy, and he looked a year younger than his actual age.
"Brandon you've grown up so fast", said Hank. "You were the smaller than my arm when I last held you."
"Yeah I've grown a bit since you've last seen me", replied Brandon. He cocked his head behind Hank to see that the house looked cleaner than he remembered.
"Come in, come in." He motioned his hands while Brandon walked in. "I have a Gameboy for you or do you young people play something else these days?" Hank closed the door while Brandon sat down on a couch whilst Hank sat at the opposite end.
"Yeah, sorta." They played video games and watched TV until it was 1pm. "Well it was a fun visit, but I'm going back home", said Brandon.
"Wait Brandon", Hank interjected. "I have something to give you." He went up the attic and got a box. He walked down stairs and carried the box down. Brandon walked towards him and scratched his head while Hank set it down on the floor next to the couch. He opened the box in front of Brandon. "This is a family Heirloom, from the 60s."
