taylor was looking at her glowing reflect in the mirror, analyzing every inch of her makeup, trying to find any kind of imperfections. Her straight hair tangled up in layers, with curls that developed through her shoulders. Spinning on her brand new dress, she smiled, feeling like a true princess.

She watched her apartment windows as the sun found the mountains somewhere far away from the big new york city, deep in her thoughts. Her attention was drawn, however, by the continuous, annoying noise of the doorbell.

Who is it? It can't be karlie, she thought, as she wouldn't arrive until around 7 pm. So who would it be? She walked slowly to the door, her dress trailing down the hall like a bespoke stream.

"Mom?" Said the youngest, still processing whoever was in front of her at that exact moment. "Mom!" And she ran, hugging Andrea with all the strength he had.

"Well, don't you look delightful?" Her mother exclaimed, smiling. "Are you going out? Who's the lucky one?"

"I- it's complicated."

"I'm listening, dear"

Taylor sighed, analyzing what should she say, then decided to open up. Her mother always helped her through these times, she really missed her annoying and clever advices.

"Its just that- It's not a date, i fear. But I'm sure she knows I have feelings for her, and I'm afraid she'll act on it even though that's not exactly what i want."

"How so? Please, elaborate on the matter" andrea was walking towards the couch, her daughter closing the door behind them.

"I like her, I really do, and i hate to admit it but she's just- easy to fall in love with. Gold shiny hair, perfect body, a personality that reminds me of the sunshine. You know that song, she's a rainbow? By the rolling stones?" Taylor paused, seen her mom nod "that's her. She literally shoots colors all around like a sunset going down, that lyric NEVER made so much sense in my entire life"

"Then what's the problem? Why don't you wanna be with her? She seems perfect, sweetheart"

"She's my coworker. No, not coworker. She's more like my boss. I can't date my boss, mom. And I can't lose this job either. I don't wanna be unprofessional, I don't wanna screw everything up and end up like last time"

"Look" Andrea squeezed her hand, looking directly into those well known shades of blue eyes "You worry too much, overthink, and let the fear consume you instead of living, gaining experience and then seeing what happens. You can't hide from pain forever, taylor. Those particular disappointments towards your love life can come at work, at a party, at a Wednesday in a cafe or even in the middle of the street. Nobody can dodge love for a long time. It creates character, makes you stronger. Especially when it hurts. Does it feel good? No, not a bit. It consumes you and makes you weak for a while. But then it passes, like everything else in life. Yes, the chances of it not working out are huge. But isn't it worth taking a shot for even the smallest chance of having someone to grow old together?"

"I-" But when taylor was about to answer, the doorbell rang again. "Wait, what time is it?"

"6:40, why?"

"Shit"

The songwriter ran desperately through the apartment until she found a a mirror, fixing the loose strands that hung over her face. After fixing her red lipstick, she opened the door, giving the girl in front of her a sincere smile. "Well, looks like you're some minutes early"

"I was too excited, couldn't wait any longer"

Karlie was wearing a tailored suit that matched taylor's dress, her lips also red, only a little bit darker. The makeup was heavy, contrasting with the pastel colors in taylor's eyeshadow pallet. On her right hand you could find a beautiful bouquet of white lilies.

Taylor invited her in, leading them to the kitchen in order to have some beverage and small talks. "Here, I brought this for you" said the tallest, lost in the blue pair of eyes for some seconds now, handing her the bouquet.

"Lilies are my favorite flowers, you know? I just find the symbolism behind it extremely beautiful"

"Oh, really? What does it mean?" Karlie asked, intrigued. She was now really close to taylor, feeling the sweet smell of her perfume.

"Death." She teased, admiring karlie's chocked expression "but also love, devotion, purity. It's a really versatile flower, you know?" she smiled shyly, keeping the eye contact with her boss. "they say if a girl is given lilies, she must know is from her lover"

"Then, now you know."

Silence. The two blonds were paralyzed, lost in their own bubble, until someone broke whatever tension they were having by exclaiming  "This is too gay for my straight ass" out loud.

"Austin? What are you doing here?"
"Mom didn't tell you I was coming?"
"Do i look like someone who knew?"
"Aren't you gonna introduce you to your new girlfriend, Taylor?" He turned to karlie? Smirking "look how cute the two little birds all matching"
"She's not my girlfriend, dumbass. We should be going, Kloss, or else we're gonna be late" said the singer, her cheeks now burning for almost jumping into karlie's face moments before.

"Sure. Bye, Austin. I'm sure we'll meet again soon" she winked before leaving the room, following Taylor to the exit.

The ride was quiet, neither of them knew what to say. Taylor tried to confront karlie about the notebook thing, but nothing came out of her throat, she was afraid of ruining the night, so she decided to wait until the end of the party. That was something, right? They had a moment, karlie wasn't dreaming, this was really happening. Suddenly, the car stopped. Camera flashes turning towards them, blinding weapons used by the media to control their social fate.

"You look beautiful tonight, Swift." The taller said and opened taylor's door, grabbing her hand and squeezing it three times.

"Well, I own it to you, don't I? This dress is amazing!" Now they were walking on the red carpet, everyone looking at them with curiosity. "But hey, you don't look bad yourself"

"Oh my god, did you just compliment me?" Karlie gasped, smiling, making taylor chuckle.

"You're cute" taylor said about karlie's reaction, their arms crossed the whole time.

"It happened again, holy shit. What's happening? Who are you? And where's the taylor i know?" she looked around, pretending she's confused "im hyperventilating!"

"sure" taylor said, entering the big decorated room. Nevertheless, she heard a familiar sound, so she paralyzed in the middle of the room. "No way"

"They're playing our song!" Said the taller, smiling "wanna dance, swift?"

"Not really, no. Dancing is a dangerous game, Kloss."

"I don't really care, you're coming" and just like that she pushed taylor to the dance floor, her hands on her wrist while they slow danced to a acoustic version of "riptide".

That was only the beginning of a night that could turn taylor's whole life upside down, everything could either go extremely well or stupidity wrong. Was she ready for it?
