Chapter 6: Iowa

Jo and Alex had talked about visiting Alex's mom on Iowa and tell her about the news they talk to her about the plan because making it a surprise could disrupt her schedule, but Helen wanted to come to Seattle because last time she really enjoyed it so Alex enjoyed organize a plan for her to come to Seattle for a week, Alex was going to go pick her up and bring her to Seattle Jo was staying behind because she was getting bigger and didn't want to add more stress that a road trip could do so it wasn't the best option.

Alex packed a small bag for for his one night trip he was traveling to Iowa and staying the night in a hotel to not disturb her mother and travel back with her the next day, he drove all day and when he got there he said hi to his mom and went to the hotel to check in then he got ready for bed and call Jo

"Hi babe!" said Alex

"Hi!!!! how are you? how was your trip? did you see your mum? how is she?" Jo responded

"Yeah, it was really good she seems really good actually" Alex said

"that's great tell her I said hi" Jo said

"What are you doing?" Alex asked

"Making dinner" Jo responded

"you're cooking" Alex laughed

"no" Jo laughed "I'm heating up some pizza from last night

"Okay enjoy" Alex said still laughing

"let's come back to FaceTime I want to see your face" Alex added

Jo smiled "oK"

they converted to FaceTime

"That pizza looks really good" Alex said to break the silence

"Yeah, it is" Jo said

"How are the twins? are you okay?" Alex asked

"Great hungry than usual though I might finish the ice cream on the freezer after this pizza" jo said joking

"I'm glad" Alex said laughing

they continue to talk of other stuff from like an hour and then got ready for bed because Alex had a long day tomorrow

the next day...

Alex check out of the hotel and drove to his mother house to pick her up, then a text from jo came up

" safe trip back ly 💞".... Jo ❤️

" call me when u get home i have a                                                                                                                    surgery but i think i will make it just in time" ..... Jo ❤️

"thank u, take it easy! " .....me

he put down the phone and rang his moms door, they said hello, Alex helped her with her bags (she was just staying a week so it wasn't a lot )and starting driving home, they talk about normal stuff work, jo and how Helen was doing, she seems really good actually, Alex was so excited to tell her about the twins he almost just blew it and Helen didn't help giving Alex hints about it like when Helen pulled up a lollipop...

"you brought candy" alex noticed

" yeah i bought it for my non-existent grandchildren" helen said

" mom, you have grandchildren" alex said " (ambers kids)

"i mean yours silly" helen said

alex stayed silent

the topic stayed for a while, and Alex kept negative of having any children soon

they drove for a couple of hours and stop in the road to eat some hamburgers, then they got back on the road and finish their trip

A block away from the loft Alex called jo

Alex - hi jo, we are almost home

jo -hi Alex ! great i ll be there in like 30 min

Alex - okay see you there

jo - oh! Alex there's some pasta or we can order take-out whatever your mom decides!

Alex - perfect! thank u

around 30 min had past, Alex helped Helen settled up, he got a text from jo

" i'm outside the door ready to surprise your mom"

" perfect i will come get u"

" mom come on, jo and i want to show you something" Alex said discretely

"oh! is Jo home"

" yeah she is outside "

"okay"

they walked to the door and Alex told Helen to close her eyes, alex opened the door and let her in, they kissed and smile, alex wrapped his arm around jo and told helen who was eager at this point to open her eyes

when Helen open her eyes she saw Jo and her eyes travel rapidly from her face to her belly, where she read a clear pregnancy, jo and Alex exclaimed

"surprise"

" this is amazing I am having another grandchild " helen said

"two" Jo

"excuse me " no it really being clear in what Jo had said

"we are.... having twins " jo said hesitant looking at Alex

Helen stayed silent trying to process the information

"well then double congratulation"

jo and Alex laughed

"thank u " they both said

they had a round of hugs, and then decided on dinner, they order some pizza and all got ready for bed, jo and Alex both took the weekend off to be with Alex's mom, so they had Friday, Saturday and Sunday to go to the city and tourist around.
