Diego's POV:
I smiled after hearing Max whine yet again. I wasn't feeling the greatest myself but I wasn't making a big deal. Hector rolled his eyes at his cousin's childish behavior and grabbed my bag from me, carrying it over his shoulder and just leaving me with a smaller bag of mine. Max huffed as Hector walked past him, ignoring Max's stretched-out arms that held his bags.
"I'm not carrying your bags and it's not my fault that you all fell asleep three minutes before arriving. I said it out loud that we were going to arrive in ten minutes. Why are you guys even sleepy? You slept literally for no more than two minutes."
"Don't question our bodies," Max grumbled out and huffed, following after Hector to the cabin.
Charlie and Rosalie opened the door and greeted us, helping us with the light stuff. The cabin had three rooms, one bathroom, and the kitchen and living room area were combined. Due to having three rooms, there was limited space but surprisingly, we fit just fine. It didn't feel crowded and the only issue was sharing rooms but none of us complained, rather we were grateful that Charlie's family let us stay here. The cabin gave off a warm feeling and you could tell it was a family place. It was nicely decorated and the furniture was soft and comfortable. I could only imagine how the beds felt.
"Well, this is the family cabin, make yourselves at home!" Charlie beamed. "There are three rooms so we have to share. Unfortunately, each room only has one bed so we have to share that too. The good thing is that they are king-size beds so there's plenty of room! Obviously, Rosalie and I will be sharing a room but I'll leave the deciding to you guys. Rosalie and I are going to a store nearby to buy ice and milk for cereal. We already have some cereal here but text us if you guys need something else. Don't destroy the cabin!"
"I can sleep in the living room," Caden offered, making Max scoff and roll his eyes.
"It'll be freezing tonight and only the rooms have heaters. You can sleep on the floor in my room," he grumbled out and walked into one of the rooms with his bags.
I felt Hector glance at me but I focused on getting my bags and walked into the last available room. Truth be told, the rooms were quite big and there was plenty enough room despite having a king-sized bed. I placed my bags on the left side of the room and Hector placed his own bags on the right side of the room. We could already hear Max and Caden arguing in the room next door and I couldn't help the chuckle that slipped. But at the same time, I was thankful because my chuckle was what ended the awkward tension between Hector and me. He also let out a chuckle, but his held more of a nervous tone.
"I can sleep on the floor if you'd like."
A warm and genuine smile slipped on my face as I said, "Don't be silly. There's plenty enough space. Plus, the ground does not look comfortable at all compared to the bed."
"Guys! Let's watch a movie! I found popcorn in the kitchen."
"What are we watching?"
"Anything you want, Diego. The movies are in the cubbies under the TV."
"How do you already know where certain stuff is?" Hector asked, shaking his head and sitting down on the couch. "It's kinda creepy."
Max threw an empty water bottle at his cousin and scoffed, "I am not creepy! I just left my stuff in my room and immediately began to look around."
"That sounds creepy," I mumbled.
"The popcorn is going to burn," Caden said, glancing at the microwave when the sound of popping stopped.
"It's not going to bu-"
"It's burned."
"It's burned," Max mimicked Caden as he opened the microwave door and took the bag out.
